I think allot of the the younger generation are just spoiled with luxury features (OD trans, fuel injection, AC, 4 wheel PB w/ abs, bluetooth connectivity, etc.). Adapting these features to an old car takes $$$ and know-how. Allot of the young people I work with don't even change their own oil...
My first mechanic experience was when I took my brand new bike apart around age 7 or 8. I had just got it for Christmas and took the entire bike apart using a couple crescent wrenches. My mom had no idea what I was up too, until my Dad came home from work. I wasn't allowed to come back into the...
I just fought the same battle on my 66 Belvedere. I started out with one 16" electric fan and shroud w/ a steel radiator. It stayed cool in the city and overheated on the highway. I even tried running the fan without the temp switch (always on), that didn't work either. Then I bought a new US...
I've always had good luck with DuraLast Gold, sold at Autozone. They are the only battery that seems to last in the dry AZ heat. I may try the Optima battery sometime, but for the money DuraLast Gold is hard to beat.
I've been working 12 hour night shifts for the last 20 years. I rotate 3 nights one week and 4 nights the other. I fall asleep around 7:30-8am and wake at 2pm everyday. I've been doing it for so long that my body is fine with it and I will feel slow and foggy when I try to convert to days for...
Already ordered the radiator from US Radiator (re-routes the top inlet to the passenger side). My main concern was the fan shroud fitment. The guys at US radiator say I shouldn't have that problem with the one I bought. Also bought the correct thermostat housing, hose, fan, shroud, and high flow...
Hey guys,
My 408 stroker has issues running hot at low speed and idle. I've decided to replace my radiator and add a shroud, but I'm not sure which shroud to buy. Right now I'm running a American Eagle AE1635 (Champion), and the inlet location is too far centered for clearance for a shroud. The...
The older I get the more I appreciate cars that I paid no attention to during my youth. I'd love to have a 62 Plymouth Savoy, 61 Pontiac Catalina, or 60 Studabaker Hawk GT. Nobody is driving cars like this anymore and seeing them on the road is like seeing a unicorn.
Looks like this is what I'm going with.
K&N 1.25" Drop Base - 85-3549 (has the dimples for the electric choke)
Summit Racing Reusable 2.5" Filter - SUM-F1318
And my old All Star Aluminum top.
Well see how it all fits in a couple of days.
Kevko Racing makes some for around $150-$250. I have the M302 pan on my 408 stroker. The Milodon pans are higher priced, but better quality. The Kevko pan I had to massage to fit, but it works.

Hey guys
I kinda created a headache for myself when I replaced my 725 Road Demon with a Eddy Thunder AVS 650 w/ electric choke. I'm running a Eddy RPM Air Gap on my 408 stroker in my 66 Belvedere and this combo is creating a air cleaner decision nightmare. I need about a 1.75" to 1.5" drop...
Here are a couple more web sites that list most the car shows in the valley. I sometimes go to the cruise night at Power RD and 60, in Mesa, on Sat night. Its in the K-Mart parking lot. Not sure if its going on this weekend with the holidays though.
