I'm putting together a 440 that came with a cast crank.
I have a steel crank that is fresh from the machine shop.
My question is, can I use the steel crank in place of the factory cast crank?
That would save me money from getting the cast crank turned.
Here's what my problem is.
On the passenger side of my 67 Belvedere.
After I jack the car up, I put one hand on top of the tire and one hand on the bottom, then try to shake it and there is no play.
Then I put one hand on the left side of the tire and one hand on the right side and shake it, and...
So i can't pull my cam out!
I removed the oil pump gear and of course the lifters.
The cam will only move about a half an inch and stop.
What did I forget?
I've been driving my 67 Belvedere for years with no problems electrical.
I started it yesterday to move it while I mowed. When I went to move it back
it had nothing. No head lights, radio, would not crank. I checked the battery and it
has a good charge. So, what's keeping it from having power...
I have 2295 TRW pistons "11.5 to 1 I think" in my 30 over 440.
I'm putting aluminum heads on it and would like to put a thick head gasket
on it to lower the compression a little.
How thick should I go for pump gas and where should I buy them at?
Thanks.
Low compression RV engine. Auto and 2.90 rear gear.
67 Belvedere street car.
Has an unknown aftermarket cam in it now. Has an awesome lope!
But smells gas'y no matter what I do to stop it.
Vacuum, floats, timing. Speaking of vacuum. It only has 7lbs.
I think the cam is completely wrong for this...
Hey guys! Need your help to make the local calendar.
It's a 1967 Belvedere with 440 auto. I had the car for over 20 years.
If you want to help just click on the picture and like the page and like my car.
Thank you.
Just got the heads back from the machine shop.
Everything check out perfect. Spring pressure right on. Valves seats sealed perfect. Valve guides good. Bolt holes good. Head surface flat.
FYI.
