this conversation has been driving my crazy, i know what i had...so ......i have been searching and searching.....i found one ...and only one mention of "a new for 1964 street wedge...here is the link about half way down on the right side just below the hood ornaments...
well after all of this back and forth i dont know what is was either. and i guess it doesnt matter. i do know what it had and described it as best i can. and called it what people around here have always called it ...no it may not be correct, but slang never is......i stated up front it didnt...
i have NEVER claimed my car was a max wedge to begin with......i was only trying to explain how the slang terms of these motors has evolved ....no it isnt correct for the purist.....

I am looking into using the 400 block for a street motor on pump gas. considering it for my 40 coupe, the narrower block of the " b" vs the "rb" is why i am considering it ...easier to install in limited space. while still having the cubic inches.
I have not got into rod length vs piston pin...

i bought my 64 fury convert from the orig. owner back in 1968 ...62 k on the car and yes it was a factory 426 street motor... by the wy that car cost me $ 275.00

yup i had a 64 fury with a 426 wedge...i believe the engine was rated at 365 hp.. it is what was called the stage 1 wedge ...stage two had dual carbs and hyd cam ..stage 3 was max wedge
