Pretty Light for a 73 Charger

3405 for a 73 Charger with a big block and 4 speed is surprising to me, on the face of it, but manual steering is -60lb, fiberglass hood is -80lb, no HVAC is -40lb, misc. interior, light buckets, 1/2 bumper brackets is another -100lb. Light weight wheels, no spare, no jack, etc. ....It all adds...

Hard to believe the price difference

Summit is the best overall in my opinion. That doesn't mean that you should not shop around though - supplies go up and down, sometimes prices get updated timely and sometimes not. No big deal. Normal stuff.

Scaled my car is this good or bad?

Your RF LR cross weight is good for a jalopy circle tracker with no sure-grip.

    Earnhardt's 1975 Charger

Jim Vandiver's Hemi 74 Charger is for sale on eBay right now. The price actually seems reasonable, especially if you are a fanatic of 3rd generation Charger race cars. You could not rebuild a clone of it for the same money. 1974 Dodge Charger | eBay

    Earnhardt's 1975 Charger

Its a 73 or 74 body for sure, but lots of guys ran the 2-3 year old Charger bodies including Richard Petty through 76. Why? My guess is that it is a pretty slippery body compared to all the rectangular cars that started coming out in 1975. Petty himself has said that the last Charger-bodied cars...

    Street Racing Confession(s)

My 69 RR was the fastest car I knew of in my neighborhood. Back then, a light B-body (no power options, removed spare and jack) 440 4 speed car with 509 cam, Holley 750, single plane intake, headers, 509 cam and stiff gears was the king. I ran the original 383 hood emblems, ....so a lot of...

    Nylon cable on a winch?

I have one. Just like a wire rope cable, you have to protect the rope from rubbing on things and fraying. More so, I'd say with the rope but if you are disciplined it is not a problem. The only negative thing I have to say compared to a wire rope winch is that under a very heavy load it can...

383 big block builds, from mild to wild, I want to hear about them!!

Why are there so many good stories about 383's? Because you flog the hell out them hoping for a melt down and an excuse to upgrade to a RB! The one in my wagon was obtained in a trade and its in it's third engine bay (that I know of). It's .060 over 1966 block with 11:1 Jahns pistons and Erson...

    Easy front end weight reduction

One hundred pounds is easy. Often overlooked, going to manual steering saves 60 lbs and also gets rid of the pump driven HP loss. Losing the inner half of my front bumper brackets dropped another 20 lbs.

Leaf Spring Sliders Install - Experienced Advice Please

The way my install ended up is with the sliders about 1/2" from the back end with the springs fully loaded (flat arch). Unloaded they are about 1/3 of the slot from the front. My measurement of total spring length at max (flat arch) turned out to be about an inch off, so my original concerns...

    Open Road Racing anyone?

The cool thing about the Silver State is that you can do just that. Run anywhere from 95 mph average speed to 170, 180 or unlimited. There is something for everyone and every car. As was said above, you can do this in your stock B-body that is in good repair. You'll need newer speed-rated tires...
