I happened to have a can of the Tri-Flow in my garage for some other reason (I can't remember). Sprayed that on the trunk and door hinges and that seemed to do the trick. I was pretty conservative with how much I sprayed so as not to end up with a big mess.
I have reached the point of maximum annoyance with the squeaking trunk and door hinges on my GTX. Wondering if anyone has any specific recommendations for lubricant for both? Are there different types for door hinges versus trunk hinges? I have seen white lithium grease recommended for door...
Yeah, I have always thought the same. But it was/is too nice to just correct. If the flaking becomes an issue, then I will definitely be using the correct textured light argent paint.
Haven't quite got that desperate yet. It flaked off in just a couple of small spots. Looking for a way to touch it up. If it grows into a more serious problem, then it might warrant a total repaint.
Wondering if anyone can recommend the correct type of paint for the tail panel on my 69 GTX? During the road trip last week, I noticed a couple of spots in the grey painted area of the tail panel that flaked off (marked areas on the pic). This is the grey textured area of the panel. I assume it...
I have not been able to resolve this issue yet. I pulled the door panel apart but couldn't really diagnose what the problem is. I put it back together for now. I am debating whether I need to pull the entire window assembly out to address this problem. I could not see an obvious weak point at...
Can speak to the GTX, but I bought a pair of the re-pops from Classic Industries for my 69 Dart when I built it and they held up fine for the six years I had them on the car. I agree with the statement above that having an original set reconditioned or rechromed could prove to be more costly...
Shop manual was the first purchase after the car.
Will pull the door panel apart as soon as I get some downtime. Need to adjust the seal on the door handle anyway. I noticed that the entire window frame moves (sort of like rotating up and forward as I pick up on the back of the window).
The drivers side door glass sags down leaving the gap shown in the picture when I close the door. The vertical chrome trim won’t seal against the quarter window. The window frame in the door is clearly sagging because I can pull up on the rear of the frame even after rolling the window all the...
Thanks. Will have to compare the looks of this seal to the one I bought when I get home from work travel. I don't think the seal that I got looks exactly like that, but it is close.
Got the hood to radiator seal sorted out. Now need a little insight on how the hood to cowl seal should be oriented. Can only be one of two ways given that the clips are already installed from the factory on the seal and yet I am still not sure which way is right.
I noticed that one side of that seal as ribbing and one side does not. Should those ribs be visible from the front (or bottom) when mounted or would they not be visible in this pic. Thanks for sharing by the way.
I went ahead and ordered two new seals from Dantes, but I admittedly cannot figure out exactly how these two should be oriented under the hood. Can someone post a pic of how these two seals should be mounted under the hood? I am sure it should be obvious, but I'm not sure the direction they...
I noticed that under the hood on my GTX, it does not have a front or rear seal on the hood itself. When looking at pics online I see some cars like this and some not. Not sure if the Air Grabber under the hood dictates what the setup should be. Curious what is correct for this car? Any input...
There appears to be some obvious bondo filling a hole in that second picture. Frame rails are always a point of concern. Channels around windows, particularly the rear and trunk gutters. Same with drop offs in the trunk.
