I prefer to stay in Gettysburg. Makes for a nice drive over in the mornings and back in the afternoons. I also like that the Bike Week is the same weekend so get to meet and hang out with some great people at the hotel and don't have to worry about the car much because the bikers are all looking...
Thanks. This is meant to be a street car. Not planning on hitting the strip with it. And will only wear radials because I intend to drive the heck out of it.
So to your point, do you think that the transmission that is currently in the car will be a problem, or will it still do what is intended, particularly if I am just planning on driving (not racing) the car?
What you shared is the stamp on the side of the transmission. But my car is a 1969 Hemi GTX. Does that mean that this is not the correct transmission? If not, what would be the primary difference between a transmission behind a 440 and a transmission behind a 426?
The VIN stamp on the passenger side of the transmission has "9G223223" stamped on the flat pad. I think that means the transmission was built in St. Louis in 1969 (could be wrong). So not the original 727 auto regardless, but at least a 69 model year transmission.
As a follow up, I did the garage verification method to try to determine gear ratio. I am pretty certain that it has the factory correct 3.55. Not that it makes any difference, but the rear end housing does have the 3.55 tag and the metal "tag" for Sure Grip on the outside of the housing.
I will have to do a little researching. The car doesn't launch like it has a particularly tall gear - like a 4.10 or something. It does in fact have the 8 3/4 rear though.
The car is supposed to have the stock 8 3/4" rear with the 3.54/3.55 rear gears that came from the factory in the car. Maybe need to verify what the rear gears are for sure.
Seeking some feedback on an issue with my speedometer. The speedo on my GTX reads much higher than the speed that I am traveling at. For instance it reads 90 when the car is only running approximately 60. Curious what might cause that issue given that the car is rolling on stock size tires.
My Hemi following restoration came with the air cleaner basically free of decals except the small one at the top. Not sure if this is correct or not, but previous owner claimed this is the correct configuration. I have seen more 69 GTXs without the Coyote Duster decal than with it, but that is...
I notice that many classic Mopars where the owner is trying to preserve the original look or numbers matching have batteries with colored reservoir tops (red, green or yellow). Is there any rhyme or reason as to which cars got what color battery top? I never investigated this with my Dart...
In my experience (and just my opinion), Mopar people are the worst about this question. They tend to be the ones that look down on your ride if it isn't numbers matching. With my Dart, I did not care. It was a nothing special car, so when I built it, I built it the way I wanted. And nearly...
