That would have been the one of the koolest Mopars you could get that year. The other being the Little Red Truck. I’d rather the B body… with a big block! :D
We can thank Iacocca for that. He couldn’t get rid of the “Old Chrysler Corporation” inventory quick enough. I heard a story from a guy that worked at the Delaware parts depot. He said they shipped rail cars full of E body quarter panels and fenders off to scrap. By ‘85 there wasn’t much left. I...
Rare B body! Definitely should be cared for. :)
The Jersey tag explains the rust issues. My Charger is from there, and I had the same outer sheet metal rust. However the floor and rails were perfect. That one might be the same.
Back in 1979 I was in a local garage. They were doing an oil change on an almost new 1979 Dodge St. Regis. The cop was complaining about the demise of the 440 big block that had been in his 1978 Monaco. I noticed up on the lift that the E58 360/727 equipped car had a true dual exhaust… dual...
I think it was more so it didn’t look so dated. The Ford Fairmont and Chevy Nova had similar. The Nova like the Volare was a one year only, 1979. The round sealed beam headlights were used on trucks into the 90’s. And Chrysler put them into Jeeps as late as this 1997 model.
Yeah… I like the 1980. Last year for the 360/727. I saw a road runner for sale once but it was a /6. I can’t imagine too many of the Sport Wagon or road runner with the 360 were made. I read it was quicker than the 1980 Corvette L82 in the 1/4 mile. The Vette obviously would out top speed it...
They had this in 1977. I went to Reedmans with my parents and grabbed a bunch of brochures. This was in one of them. Looks kool!
And I always liked the one year only 1980 front end with the rectangular headlights.
Nice! My buddy had one back in the early 80’s. Slant/TF. It must have been a tradesman. No side windows, or back windows. It did have diamond shaped port holes in the very back. They were smoked. It was that dark green like F8 that was on 50 Mopars for every other color. :D
