It was a GM thing that started in the late 70’s by Corvette guys. GM did not indicate the engine the car came with in the VIN until 1972. So a matching number on the engine block to the sequence # in the VIN verified if the car came with the L78 396, or the L79 327. Mopar has that info right in...
It’s no good. It has a different engine that was manufactured by Chrysler, but “incorrect”… not numbers matching. But if it has 70% Asian sheet metal produced in 2018… it’s all original. No wonder restomods are the big ticket currently. :D
I wasn’t sure. But surprised, because the Federal pump is only rated to 5500 RPM. Maybe they were different internally.
I also read somewhere that any axle package that had 3.54 or greater got the cooler. All Dana’s and every 3.55 and up 8 3/4.
My 1970 440 Six Pack Charger, 4 speed, 3.54 Dana has the Saginaw with a cooler on the return line. The Hemi should be the same. It also has the big three spoke pulley.
Also… I’m not sure about the Hemi block but the 440 block didn’t get a machined pad for the VIN until late spring 1968 for installation in the 1969MY cars. On 440’s for ‘68 I have seen the VIN on the back cast surface of the block by the oil pressure boss on the engine and transmission on the...
I can take. I just give it back. But there are a couple of members on here that I disagree with on the political forum. But in Mopar discussion, I bury the hatchet. We’re all just trying to get the most out of our cars.
Kool! I’ll have to give my cars another look. 1968 was the first year for the windshield visible VIN, and these “hidden” #’s. Car theft, and chop shops started becoming an issue by the mid 60’s. These changes and #’s were for law enforcement to identify cars that were in NCIC that the FBI...
Like I said, I currently have 2 Satellites, a wagon and a 4 door. Neither has a matching number on the rad support. Nor does that rad support from a 2 door Sport Satellite. All Lynch Rd. cars. My 2 door H/T St. Louis has it. All of those cars are factory paint and not been in a collision.
