That settles it, everything was painted gloss black. I need to correct one thing I said, it was Karps power brakes that said they were never painted that way, not Booster Dewey. Thanks again
Does anyone know what is concourse correct for paint on these? My original appeared to be painted gloss black, including the 4 nuts that attach the master cylinder. I thought I read in a procedure/build article by David Patik on wing cars that stated this as how it was done, painted as an...
I got the same price increase from Coker, I thanked them for asking before shipping, and told them to forget it. It sounded like I was not the only one refusing them as she asked why. The fact is those tires suck anyway and I would rather do new billet wheels with a safe tire, and keep the old...
Maybe, but the moisture to corrode had to come from the backside, as the paint looks good. I say stress is just as much at fault in that area. I would fully weld that seam, as it is only a few spot welds in stock form, no matter what you put in it for filler. We saw this a lot back in the day...
It is not a rare skill, the problem is the toners and paint have all changed. Spies Hecker was the closest for me, and even then it was harder than you think, the original fy1 paint had a slight green/black hue to it under some lighting conditions. FY1 is also way different at night vs day so...
That extra height should fix the big door to rocker gap these cars have. If it is too tight you have to grind the door bottom until it fits...then weld it up, not my favorite fix but about the only way. Sometimes you have to do the front and back of the door too.
I feel your pain, one of the few things that went right on my car. They shot the color, did all the sprayouts for free, ended up with my first axalta paint job, store could not have been nicer, others were azzholes when it was not right.
Because the toners are not the same anymore. You may need a total different brand to get it right, some colors can be made right in base clear but not single stage. Most paint shops can shoot it with a spectraphotometer and get close, and work it from there. You may end up paying for a few...
You had better make them fit the rear bumper too. I will never understand why a shop would cut everything off with the car supported like that. They may want to square up the frame rails for height, qtr fit at the door, and support them in 3-4 places before they weld anything on. Tell them you...
Thanks, had to polish the minor pits out of them, will dull them up and coat with rpm. Everything under this car was cheap black spray painted, so just wanted to be sure. Since you have a superbird was the front sway bar bare or black painted?
