Went to the track Friday. What should I try next?

Runs pretty good to me, but as mentioned, try a bit higher shift point. I with I could get those 60' times. I'm still on pretty much stock suspension (added an extra leaf spring) with pinion snubber and KYB shocks. Only getting mid 11's at 120 MPH at Bandimere in my 4200 pound Charger.

    Head Gasket Cylinder Overhang

I think the 8519 does not have a pre-flattened fire ring and will leave a mark on the heads? Never had a problem with it though. Went with the Cometic gaskets when I built the new 12.4:1 compression engine. I bought the "bore specific" cometic gaskets for a 10:1 compression engine and had a...

    Head Gasket Cylinder Overhang

The 8519PT1 works on aluminum heads, at least the B1 BS heads. They are also really inexpensive, I think less than $20/set. I have been using Cometic MLS gaskets, but they are around $200 /set

    Head Gasket Cylinder Overhang

I have used the 8519 at 11:1 compression without issues. What ever gasket you use, make sure it will seal inside the bore chamfer and cylinder head. Bore size means nothing when it comes to sealing because the chamfer at the top of the bore is larger than the bore size.

Help! New 572 vibration at 3000 RPM

I had a vibration issue with my 499" B-block stroker. It was over balanced by 1 Ounce! I think the machine shop mad an error in balancing. It was a new shop for me, and I didn't know it was a new guy who just bought someones elses shop, and likely he made a mistake? Took the engine to a shop I...

Season interrupted - breakage scare in the new 470.

I din't know at what point lift and spring pressures when the valve train needs serious attention, but I had issues running 0.726" lift with 700+ lbs open pressure.

Leaving Power on the Table, 440

That larger Hughes cam should be fine. Need some sticky tires and/or suspension work to get the 60' times down around 1.8 seconds or less.

Deeper pinion for a race setup?

This seemed to work in the 8-3/4" before I swapped to the Strange S60 axle. Red Line Shock Proof Gear Oil: Red Line Synthetic Oil. ShockProof® Gear Oil

440 blown intake valley pan cause?

Seen blown up valley pan from a defective crankcase Evac system check valve. The Charger just has dual K&N valve cover breathers and no PCV, but it is not street driven that much.

Mopar Stage VI max wedge head progress and HP expectations

I'm not totally sure on the Hughes Heads, I got them like 7 or 8 years ago. I just recall checking if the ICON pistons valve reliefs could be cut deeper, but there is not alot of thickness in that area. I think around 0.150"? I got the Hughes heads after I tried cutting deeper valve spring...

Mopar Stage VI max wedge head progress and HP expectations

I had the Hughes CNC heads inspected and flowed when I got them to verify the claimed numbers and they were very close. I had the B1-B/S heads repaired after the old engine dropped a valve, and we installed Manely severe duty 2.25" intake valves, but haven't ported them for the larger valves. I...

Mopar Stage VI max wedge head progress and HP expectations

Those look nice. 350 cfm sounds about right? I think they flow like the CNC B1-B/S heads if they are MW port size? Which pistons are you using for 15:1 compression? My 4.15" stroke 400 block has the flat tops, and about 12.4:1 compression. Also, check the piston to valve clearance. I was...

Solid lift flat tappet cams or hydraulic flat tappet.

With the solid roller, I would check lash about once a year after it was set where I wanted it. Lash didn't change over 10 years, but if it did it would have let me know something was not right. I should have inspected the valve spring pressures after 10 years, but I didn't and floated a valve...

Towing on an open trailer. In neutral or in park even though it is strapped down? What say ye?

I leave the car in park also. Cross straped. Have the short axle straps too that have the extra sheath material over the straps. The straps with the extra sheath really help the straps from getting cut and frayed. Learned that after removing some straps without the sheath and one was cut 1/2...

    head gasket question

I was thinking it might just be easier to replace the pistons with the flat tops?

    head gasket question

You will have to check the cylinder head chamber diameter, it could be larger/wider than the engine bore size. I would use a gasket that is a bit larger than the chamber/bore size it won't change the compression much and having the gasket seal all the way around is more important than a tenth...

    Dana tricks I learned today

The dana 60 is more labor than most because backlash is set with shims and almost always working under the vehicle. Not sure what pinion height tool your using. I don't like the universal ones that bolt to the bearing cap hole. Takes too much time to get them setup and can have several places...
