Being springs, I don't know hold long the weld would hold up, assuming you sectioned the middle. I suppose you could heat up and recurve one end and cut off the excess, but then you run the risk of losing the temper.
Not to nitpick, but the bezel pictured above is for a '68 not a '69. The '69's have lettering on them and the woodgrain is a slightly different shade. They will physically bolt up, but if you mix and match the years, ie. '68 radio bezel and '69 dash piece, it will be noticeable.
