You are spot on about diving into the system and experimenting with all the available options to really improve how the engine performs. If the engine has any mechanical problems or other issues those need to be addressed before the installation because they will be very difficult to work...
I started with the original sniper and had the infamous injector issue so I decided to just upgrade to the sniper 2 and what a difference. Throttle feels really smooth and not having the internal pressure regulator is good. I put an Aeromotive regulator on and it’s sweet and simple.
The...
The booster is obviously designed for the hydraulic pressure instead of the vacuum diaphragm which would apply the force to the brake system. This is a good learning experience working out different solutions to make it work. I am following along with great interest because I am considering...
Time is always in short supply, but we manage to find some depending on how much any particular project means to us. This car will be so sweet when you are able to get in and cruise and that time is ever closer.
Well it looks like you are going to add to your skills with the stainless welding and that’s always a plus. You will have a one of one custom stainless fuel tank and all the knowledge of exactly what you’re running on when you’re cruising down the road laughing out loud. Thanks for sharing...
Ok, I am picturing the final fit correctly and I was thinking about cutting an access hole in my trunk floor but it would not serve the purpose because all the wiring and fuel lines run out of the factory side sending unit location anyway. Plus being a 74 mine has that huge hump for the bulge...
I’m following your fuel pump modifications and looking at the pictures here I have a question. Is the fuel pump going to be recessed in the cut out section below the top of the tank? The template for the pump looks like it will sit down inside. I’m just trying to get an accurate idea and I am...
For what it’s worth my Charger has a decent Grant GT wheel that’s sized more like my Camry. It has the thicker grip which I like and I also have a spacer which moves the wheel out away from the dash. It’s black and the frame is matte black so no sun glare.
That wheel has been on there over 15...
That sounds like a good idea and everything should play nice together. Aeromotive only has the 71-72 tank and I figured it would swap into the same space as the basic physical dimensions are the same. Please keep us posted on your project.
I have those 4 nipples capped off at this point. My Charger is a 74 that had the hump and there were none of the original vent or vapor lines on my car. I am going to see how things work once I get the new gauge insert done. I have a loose fitting locking gas cap and that should vent pretty...
Either should be adaptable. Maybe you can gut the factory sender and run fuel and power through it like the Aeromotive does. Looks close to factory. Since you have to do some tinkering anyway. You will get it sorted out. Some of the floats are fairly small and likely don’t have to be...
The float is on a small metal bracket that has screws that go through the metal ring on the top of the tank, same ring the cover screws go into for the fancy cover plate. There are numerous types of senders out there. Factory is not going to work so it’s a matter of finding one that works with...
Maybe these pictures will help. Looking inside from the filler neck opening you can see the float and it’s hanger beside the foam bucket. I wasn’t thinking about this scenario when I was taking pictures….lol. Maybe you can get some ideas from these. The 1st pic is the replacement sender that...
This very issue is one of the main reasons I went for the complete tank and the sending unit is mounted to the side of the pump/basket assembly with the mount bolted to the mounting ring. It works but I didn’t want to have to figure it out along with the pump. I can see what pics I have that...
The basket is a simple and efficient way to help reduce fuel sling and sucking air when going down the road. There are lots of ways to do it. But that’s another reason I got the tank complete.
Looks good and now you can actually see what’s going on inside that booster. Like I said before, this can’t be too complicated because it’s hydraulic and there’s fewer variables.
All of your points were considered and I can say that the pump is easy to change. Mine went out under warranty and they shipped new pump and sending unit out asap, no hassles. Even I could manage to do the swap. Instructions were good. And I didn’t have to cut open anything to make a hole so...
The Aeromotive tank was what I used for my sniper and the tank fits good and I put a meter match in to dial in the sending unit and the gauge. I didn’t want to have to cut into a new tank because I am not confident enough in my skills in that area.
Looks like you are having fun.
I am following along here and your attention to detail is amazing, and this car will be a very reliable driver. Thank you for your time and patience to post details and pictures as you work out all the situations that come with this level of truly building a car to your own specifications.
