Yeah, the jackass is in such a hurry to get some video of the shrapnel under the car, so he can get some more "YouTube gold", that he can't take the time to grab a jack stand when he brings out the jack ! How famous he would be if that jack failed and his customer was crushed. Then the idiot...
You ain't kidding ! What a nightmare. Had a couple learning experience's with the blowproof. Also had a situation with register size. Didn't realize when I initially mated trans to bellhousing that register in housing was bigger diameter than my '67 trans. Ended up ruining front bearing in 18...
Just an FYI, when I changed to a Hays billet flywheel, I had to add a spacer to fork pivot bracket to make up for thinner flywheel thickness. NOT an easy job installed in car with big tube headers !!! Best to measure and do it at install. My understanding is that Centerforce billet flywheel ($$)...
Chrysler used to have a little Ball Stud Hemi display set-up, including a complete engine, at the WPC museum. Saw it a couple times. And yes the only running example was in Hoover:s Barracuda, but I am pretty sure the engine was actually owned by a different well known Chrysler guy, but I can't...
Every 440 I own that isn't running ( 3 of them ) are standard bore. I don't believe they are hard to find. None of them will stay standard bore. If I had a standard bore 426 Hemi, I could sell it and buy stroker kits for all the 440's !
They did put a 413 cubic inch motor in RV's. It was pretty easy to identify, as I believe, they had sort of scalloped valve covers like the old poly 318's. Saw a few sets of these heads at a junkyard I worked at in the late 80's/ early 90's.
Bought a cloyes set for a customer's 318 from Advantage a couple weeks ago. After install it had more chain slop than the 100k mile original I took off. Bought same set from O'Reilly's and it was ok. Funny that the Cloyes packaging was completely different between the two sets I bought. Probably...
My trans builder cautions me almost every time I take him a trans ( mostly GM's) to check gap and shim if necessary or pump failure could result. Have only had to shim a couple. Depends on the convertor.
The word "overkill" comes to mind. I had a customer come in once that was looking for torque specs for fender, hood, trunk lid, etc, bolts for an old Ford pick-up. Father and son project that has been delayed going back together for three weeks while Dad looked for those specs. He was determined...
Wouldn't the point of this test be to see if your crankcase ventilation system was working properly ? So how could you determine that by blocking everything off ?? I believe that anything spinning in a confined area is going to create pressure, so even if you blocked off all ventilation and had...
