66-70 floor pan supports for bucket seats.

In a wreck the heavy seats are going to want to rip out of the floor. Even if the plates were on loose and not welded or bonded they are going to add something if underneath as they'd act as a giant washer. If placed on the top they will help with rocking or flexing from side to side, but not a...

66-70 floor pan supports for bucket seats.

I've used the panel bond adhesive on non-structural parts and it is good as long as the prep is done right and the adhesive is mixed properly with the special nozzle. In this instance though, if you aren't welding the support plates in but instead using panel bond I would be gluing them on the...

    Carpet Installation Question

I would bolt in your seats before you cut the sides. I didn't, and when the seats went in and everything squished down (sound deadener and carpet) it pulled the carpet away from the sills. I need to re-do mine as a result.

73 Charger - Seat Track Bolts To Floor Pan Nut Torque

I just tighten mine so they are tight enough not to come loose (I usually dab a bit of silicone on the threads as well to stop the nuts undoing). They aren't doing anything other than holding the seat to the floor in a static environment. If they come loose the worse thing that will happen is...

Your opinion on this repair (Carpenter & Upholstory Work)

You're probably asking on the wrong forum. You'd get a much better response on one of Joey's other sites: Forofficechairsonly.com

Need advice ASAP!! Shop got black grease/dirt streaks, marks on my yellow fabric seats. Cleaner??

I would try a Wax/Grease Remover - it should be in the hardware store, or maybe the auto store probably in the paint section. Then rinse with clean water.

1964 Dodge Polara three point seatbelt conversion

What about a 4 point harness or similar that would attach to the seat frame? I have thought of something like that for my car (lap belts only) but I haven't investigated it further. You would have to have a strong locking mechanism for the seat back too. My car is a death trap with the lap belts...

    Light weight sound/heat underlay

I did the whole interior of my 66 Satellite and it weighed 44 lbs, but it's spread low and over a large surface area so it's not noticeable. It's not like putting heavy stuff just in one place - the other day I put 6 bags of premixed concrete in the trunk (264 lbs) and when I accelerated onto...

    Console Shift Lever Cover

Well after looking at the prices including shipping (over $100!) I decided to make one out of some black rubber I had left over from another job. I had to clean up the tracks inside so it could slide without binding but it came out pretty good! Total cost $0, and 1 enjoyable hour on a Sunday...

    Console Shift Lever Cover

Hi, does anyone know what the exact part name is for the cover on the auto shift lever, that moves with the lever, and where I might buy one? Car is a 66 Satellite, the photo is a '68 but I assume was the same in '66. Mine is missing, just an uncovered slot that dust and dirt can get into. Cheers.

bench seat extensions for more leg room

You could remove the bench seat and sit in the back. I saw Bubba Smith do it in Police Academy.

    67gtx new carpet

Be careful around the headlight full beam/dip switch, and obviously around the cut out for the shifter. If it's a 2 piece carpet which I assume it is, try to get your overlap correct so you aren't left short at either end. Under the door sills carefully trim the carpet so it overhangs the sill...

How are y’all carrying your kids around?

You really need the top tether for the booster/child seat as well as the lap belt theough the seat. If you haven't got a parcel shelf you can thread the top tether through the metal panel under the parcel shelf and attach to a bolt in the trunk. I used the hold down mount for the spare wheel and...

Clear Coat on Interior Metal Pieces??

As long as it has a few coats of the color I would leave it as is. I'm not a big fan of clear coat myself, I've had problems where I've ruined stuff that looked really good, when the clear coat reacted with the color. Professionally done might be a different story, but for rattle cans I wouldn't...

Carpet fitment at sill plate question.

It looks like you're doing a very neat job too - looks great in that footwell. Better than the job I did on mine.

    Help with Interior measurements

I used about 4.1m2 in my 66 Satellite recently. It wouldn't be much more than that. I used 11 sheets at 810mm x 460mm. Cheers

Removing Seat Side Trim - 66 Satellite

I've actually managed to remove it with a small screwdriver after unhooking the adjuster spring. What a pain in the *** design - I can't believe I had to take the seat out of the car, and then still couldn't easily access it. I mean, it's a piece that is likely to get scratched and scuffed over...
