I'm in the process of restoring my dash and I removed the clock. I'm thinking about sending it out to be updated to a quartz clock. Looking at the clock, it seems very odd and unsymmetrical. I never noticed the face being blocked by the chrome bezel before, maybe because when you look at the...
I bought a pair of '66 Satellite backup lenses from Laysons a couple of years ago, not sure if they still sell them. It took a while to get them because the were on back order, maybe they have them in stock now.
I have a crazy problem.
Prior to removing and replacing my 318 engine, my windshieldwipers worked fine. The wiper wiring plug was plugged into the top slot of the wiring block on the firewall. I removed the engine, repainted the engine bay and a new 440 engine was installed by a professional...
Watermelon- I'm replacing my new tank with one that's being made for me and it will include a neck like you installed on your tank. After the waterfall of gas that I experienced when I got home scared me enough to swear off the grommet, I don't want to take that chance again. I'm also buying a...
I'm experiencing the same exact thing with my 66 Satellite. I drove home from a car show, pulled into my driveway and gas was pouring out of the filler tube gasket area. When I replaced the tank the filler tube seemed to be almost too short and was a bitch to keep inserted during install of...
Well I followed everyones advice and was able to remove the steering box without much trouble. The local O'Reilly auto store has a tool loan program, they loaded me a pitman arm remover and a pickle fork.
Thanks again for the advice and help, I couldn't done it without you guys.
Thanks for all the info, doesn't sound like it's too tough to remove. Hardest part seems to be stripping all the paint from the engine bay, luckily I'm about 3/4 done.
Great advice on FBBO from great members trying to help out and pass on their knowledge, thanks again.
Regarding WileERobby, can you explain what the centerline link is. When I disconnect the powersteering box the pitman arm is connected on either end, which end is easier to remove for complete removal of the steering box, are the connected with a bolt, cotter pin etc?
I'm emptying my engine bay for repaint and want to remove the steering box. The steering coupler has a spine connection, is there a pin that needs to be driven out to disconnect the coupler. What is the best way to remove this pin?
Next, the pitman arm disconnect. What is the best way to...
I want thank all of the 66/67 b-body owners that have responded to this thread. Clearly there are a lot of us who are frustrated by the lack of parts for our Belvederes/ Satellites/ GTX and Coronets. Hopefully manufacturers/suppliers will take note and start making parts (especially quarter...
I contacted AMD today to suggest the need for quality quarter panels for 66/67 Belv/Sat and GTX's. I told them that there is a need for quarter panels due to the high incidence of rust in the forward section of the quarter panel at the rear wheel well. I told them, that many owners of these...
Thanks for all the input, I'm tired of going to my mechanics shop and visiting the 440. I feel like a divorced father visiting the kids every now and then. I guess it's time to make a more permanent arrangement, and install the beast.
I have a running and very drivable '66 Satellite 318 convertible. In my dream world I will eventually restore/repair a few body issues (rusty quarters and driverside floor pan) and have it painted. Unfortunately I can't afford to do all that needs to be done at this time. I have a 440 engine...
Thanks for responding, I'm trying to avoid a nightmare of poorly made/fitting quarter panels. I don't know why not to many places make parts for 66 Sattys and Belvederes.
