I placed the seal in the freezer for a few hours then put a light coat of oil on the lip of the tail housing and tapped the edges of the seal in. No issues!
Sure can, easy stuff. Make sure the gasket bolt holes line up on the bottom side of the timing chain cover before applying sealant. Here's a few pix from the last time I did it.
I've used lunati and Ultradyne with good success. The bigger issue is the lifters, as there seem to be a lot of junk ones floating around even from reputable manufacturers.
As far as specs, that's like a fingerprint, every engine and its associated performance is different. What are the engine...
Adjust the nut on the rod that attaches to the z-bar to get the desired gap between the throw-out bearing and pressure plate fingers. I believe it's 5/32" per the FSM for a B body.
Make sure you have a return spring (not an over-center spring) on your clutch fork or it will sit and ride on the...
I have a Ray Barton cam in my hemi, and it's great, especially for a PDB car. Might be worth a call to Ray to see if he has anything for ya.
He has different grinds (Ultradyne cams) based on your needs.
I had something like this happen, built a motor and it sat for a few years before I could break it in and all the lube gradually came off. I broke it in and flattened a few cam lobes during the process. Replaced the cam and lifters then broke it in the same day and never had any issues.
I use...
Are the galley plugs installed behind the timing chain? That will lead to very low oil pressure as well. Since you have your oil pump removed, take a look at the oil pressure relief valve as well. Make sure it's good and the bore is clean and free of any issues.
Annealing is a process of heating metal and cooling it to soften its atomic structure. It changes the property of the metal gasket to give you a better seal.
I thought they same and called Cometic to make sure. They advised me not to use any lubricant with their gaskets as they have lubricants (black rings) already built into the gaskets. I'm not talking about reusing the gasket where copper spray is warranted. I installed my dry and she hasn't had...
Good news! After taking a few months off, retiring from one job and starting a new career, buying a house, holidays, and whatnot I decided to dig into oil pressure problems on the superbee. Tore apart the front end of the hemi after I had a hunch that an internal oil galley plug was missing and...
Rebuilt my trans this last summer, with a kit from brewers. Make sure you know the right part numbers as the input shaft bearing (301 & 307) come in different sizes based upon certain transmission years.
On that note, brewers says not to use RTV on the gaskets for the input shaft bearing...
