In my younger days when I did a road trip, I always would run a carb or injector cleaner just because. I figure at hyway speeds and burning a tank or 2 within a day or 3 would clean things up.
I don't know what those things are called? But take a pic of it and truck on down to your local NAPA and tell them you're looking for one of those. I bet they'll have one! Good Luck
If the tanks fine, why not just change the grommets and be done? If it ain't broke don't mess with it if you don't have to. At 15/16's of a tank that's almost a full tank, why not stop at 3/4's when you fill it? Just my 2 cents. Good Luck
