I did play with the pump and could not come up with any positive leaks. Of course thats not to say my couple cycles are putting the same wear/pressure as 1000 cycles rapidly when its running... I decided to tear my carb apart to see if its to blame. I am thinking it could be the floats because...
all I can think of is because it's such a high power pump it might spray gas through the rubber seal?? I really am lost... only other thing we can think of is it's gotta be leaking through the intake into the heads??
Ok I took the pump off hoping that was the problem but once I pulled it off I can seem to figure out how it could really leak. Other than a small gasket around the push rod in the pump.
So I discovered today that my oil pan is full of gas in the 440 stroker. I haven't started the car in a while and for what its worth its not drive able it has about 10-15 minutes total of run time since I got it. It was not apparent in the beginning either as I kept an eye for anything odd the...
Thanks yes, I was very upset. I checked the blade distance a million times even pulling/pushing to make sure it wouldn't contact anything. all I can think of is they twisted enough to catch the lip on the bottom of the radiator and it went down hill from there... Edge of a couple blades are at a...
Yeah I thought I had it squared away... started the car and seen the fan quit spinning got out and radiator fluid everywhere...
motor plates 3/8" water pumps shaved 1/4" and I have a 1/8" spacer in the crank pulley to square everything up. You are correct those are pulleys off my 318 the pulley...
just wondering if any of y'all have had this problem and what option I have? I can adjust the fan out but then the fan hits the bottom of the radiator so it's one or the other... tried pushing the power steering pump in but then the pulley doesn't line up perfect. I've spent just about all day...
Well I listened to everyone's advice after putting on the 10" backing plates I decided to purchase 11" set up. I originally only saw them on year one or some site like that for a few hundred bucks for the drums. I asked the guy at autozone while I was getting oil and they sold finned 11" drums...
Thanks guys, funny I found that video last night. Luckily my axles slid right back in lol wasn't about to pound on them. I'm going to give these a try at least get it rolling again so I can take it to get a driveshaft. Always go 11" or disc if I feel it needs it.
Yes, I apologize the picture wasn't the greatest. I'll try to get better picture of everything.
Yes, on the bearing closest to the backing plate is a snap ring. than above that is an o ring. On the smaller bearing it is solid.
The retaining plate I assume is the silver piece in the picture I...
That explains why the video on youtube his backing plate and brake setup stayed on the housing... I pulled the snap ring off and the backing plate slide off. It was snug but came off. So it is my understand that snap ring should be sandwiched between the backing plate and the bearing retainer...
I don't have a clue. I do know when I was pulling the axle out the ring lock was flush against the housing and the o ring was inside. But what you are saying is the backing plate should be between the ring lock and o ring? This is on a dana 60 if it matters.
I'm trying to swap out the 11" backing plates that came with my dana for my 10" setup. I pulled the axles out and realized the backing plates don't slide right out. They are hung up on the outer seal/ metal retainer on the racer. Is it as simple as pulling the retainer out or does it not come...
I don't know saw someone selling one ok Facebook today and I've seen them at swap meets. Sold as something to put on the wall basically but who ever buys them probably has different intentions.
I took the advice to lube the fittings and that seemed to work. Took a couple tries and I showered all the connections in lube to try and remove anything trapped between the threads. They are no longer leaking from the AN connections but the npt ends that go into the regulator they are leaking...
