I never found it too difficult to lift off my hood and put it back on by myself. I also made some 1" dia clear acrylic rods to support the hood. I made them a little taller than most, so I could use them for working on it and for at cruise night or car shows. I would slip 4 extra hood clips...
Hell, one of my 440's was a running and driving engine, until I pulled it for a rebuild. Once I tore it down, the side core plug areas were corroded so badly. I was shocked that it did not leak coolant. I had to re-machine them up to a Big Block Chevy 1-3/4" size cup plug.
How is that block rotted so badly? I have seen piles of engines in the junk yards that have been sitting outside and sitting submerged into mud and water for 50+ years that are not eroded that badly??? I doubt those numbers were legible. I am guessing re-stamped another block. It's amazing how...
Awesome but ugly at the same time. Only in the 60's-70's could this be possible.
Could you imagine if you could order a green Dodge Caravan with a Mod Top Foral roof these days... lol.
I have hundreds and hundreds of passes on my six pack Charger. Newer engine has been in since around 2007 with over 55,000 miles on it now and I can't even remember the last time I pulled off the air cleaner. I just drive it. Never let's me down.
I picked up a 383 six pack intake for my 383. Thinking about all 3 new carbs also since old originals are hard to find and everyone wants so much money for junk carbs.
Cool story. Thank you for your service. I love six pack cars. I have never had a real A12 so I made a lift off hood car out of my 69' Coronet R/T. I also have a sixpack 70' Charger.
Loosen your base plate bolts on all the carbs and just snug them tight. To tight or unevenly tightened will cause the throttle blades to stick open sometimes.
Nice ride. As mentioned above . I sold off many rides over the years for the wife and kids. Now that the ex wife is gone and I am almost done raising my kids the Mopars are here to stay. One I regret selling.
It's a factory TX9 black car. So I am thinking back to black. With organisol lift off hood with the red six pack lettering. Black steelies and red line tires with red interior.
My 383 post Road Runner is missing it's original drive train. I am thinking about creating it into a 70' lift off hood sixpack car with steelies as if Chrysler carried it on one more year. Anyone seen one done before and if so, how do you think it looked?
$900+ wow! Now I am glad I am trying to piece together an older NOS brand Sixpack set up I found. I already have the plates (6 actually) & solenoids, just need to piece the rest of it together & get it bolted on someday & work on the tune with jetting.
I have never had one on my Sixpack set up going on almost 25 years now & never have had any dieseling issues. Since the big *** oval air cleaner covers & hides it anyway, no one has ever even noticed or commented on it missing. Shuts right off & starts right back up every time (knock on wood...
I have an iron Manifold. It looks almost identical to the alum version. It is heavy as hell. My understanding was Edelbrock's foundry could not keep up with production after 1969 with the additional to more production model sixpack cars over the A12 69-1/2 cars so Chrysler made their own in 1970...
I made mine out of a clear 1" dia, plexiglass rod. I drilled & tapped one end to thread a set of factory hood pins into & bored & polished the I.D. of the other end to slip over the pins on the car. The hood appeared to be floating. I eventually cut them down to be a little shorter.
I made some out of 1" dia. clear acrylic. drilled bottom to slip over factory hood pins & drilled & tapped the tops for another set of hood pins for my 69 Coronet R/T that had a six pack set up on it. Looked awesome, alway got alot of comments on them.
