As someone who owns a 10 Challenger RT and a 01 Viper GTS ACR as well as having driven a variety of "performance" cars, I can attest to essentially what everyone is saying here, that a classic car can handle with with new bushings, good shocks, sways bars, good tires and the right suspension...
Man I love it when posts like this pop up, so much entertainment... Here you have a guy who owns a car, has the documentation and needs a plate which he found a sources for and confirmed the legality with his local DMV and yet the haters come flying out...
Yeah they have really gone after the G3 Hemi crowd. I know I have given them a fair bit over the last year or so; Terminator X Max controller with VVT harness, mid sump oil pan, mid plate (accessory plate with accessories), and will probably be ordering a 10 micron fuel filter from them as well.
I also have a 66 built 426H and it has a name stamped into the pan rail which I investigate and was told was a drag racer on the east coast some where. I believe this was done so that the block could be ID'd at the machine shop or if stolen. In other words probably not an uncommon practice.
i doubt I will ever have another one or a 67 GTX but if the conditions were right I certainly would be interested. I have a pretty full stable these days with 2 E bodies, 2 B bodies and an A body not to mention my modern muscle, but I never say never.
In 1978 I was going through basic training and AIT at Ft Leonard Wood MO, the year before I had trashed my 67 satellite and was regretting it. As I was getting close to graduation there was a drill sergeant there who had a red 67 GTX which was his daily driver with a 440 and a 4 speed (someone...
I have to admit that the Belvedere II v satellite had me a bit confused, I do know there are differences. I guess a BII 383 4 spd would be very similar to a satellite in many respects.
Back in the day (around probably 77) I bought a 67 Satellite with a 383 and a 4 speed. Unfortunately in my mis-spent youth I destroyed the car (some of it wasn't my fault but a lot of it was). Anyway, I wondering how rare that car was? I have always kind of looked for another but never did find...
Oh of my biggest regrets car wise was the destruction of my 67 Satellite I bought for $150 from a Chevy dealer back in like 1978. It was a 383 4spd car, blue with black interior and I loved it. A buddy got into a fight some guys and they threw a wine bottle through the right rear quarter window...
back in the day (late 70's) I bought a 67 Satellite 383 4spd for $150 from a Chevy dealer. I loved that car but unfortunately it was destroyed through a series of teenage adventures. I always wanted another one but have never obtained one....
