I used the Eastwood's stuff many moons ago on my previous F-Body Volare roadrunner.
I found the paint to be very thin.
After about 2 years on the car it started showing the base metal in some spots.
I took it out and my neighbour ended up painting it with an enamel paint.
The color he chose was...
Are the vent tubes themselves cracked or is the vapour separator that's in front of it cracked?
I'm not sure you can get a tank that doesn't have the vent tubes in it.
They are required to keep the pressure in the tank neutral or you will have fuel coming out of the filler neck past the gas cap.
I'm pretty sure that th 1972 tanks have the 4 vent holes facing forward just above the rear diff. whereas the 71 tank vent holes were on the side of the tank on the drivers side.
I agree that stainless lines is harder to work with, but once its done you won't have to touch them again.
I bent my 3/8" fuel lines and 3/16" brake lines from stainless and I used that tiny hand bender.
I use the regular flared brake fittings along with DOT5 fluid with no leakage.
When I went from 5/16 line to 3/8 line I mig welded the line in place.
No leaks. Far enough away from the sending unit connector to not worry about too much heat.

Perfect reason for...
The Air Gap is still a dual plane intake, you should have no issues running it on a 318.
There may be a slight port mismatch, but that can be taken care of by gasket matching.
The one issue you may have is hood clearance.
Also, the 2 carbs you mentioned - don't bother with them.
The new...
