Cutting to the Chase - '71 RR Value

Sounds like a good deal to me:thumbsup:. I picked up a super nice almost 100% rust free 71 Sattelite a couple years ago for $3,500.. 400BB, busted transmission with a bit of a mess as far as wiring goes. Yours being a real RR I think your doing pretty good as yours will hold better value. As...

Interior input: late model swap or upholster?

Your the only one who can make this call but myself I'd take the modern seats. My only beef with modern seats it's having front seats that don't look like they belong. Here's mine, all modern seats, front and rear but I had everything upholstered with a 60's vibe.

Out the top or through the bottom? 400CI 74RR

Mine was a roller long before the motor went in so I put the motor and tranny in together through the top. It's very easy but requires the car to be elevated quite a bit to allow for a pretty good angle without the tailshaft hitting the floor. Simple answer is.. If you want to be able to push...

    Just bought a 71 Charger... going to a 5.7 I think

Hard decisions lol. I just bought a 2019 Ram with a 5.7, very impressed with how fast a big truck can be with one but 6.4 is even better. I'm getting ready to start a 72 Satty for my daughter and had a buddy offer me a Dakota RT for $500, easy decision. Looks like she's getting a 5.9 and...

Have you ever looked for a part that is right in front of your face!

I do it so often I just give up and move on anymore, it's always when I'm not looking for it that I find it. Now I have a young one around that randomly picks up things that he has no idea what they're even for and walks off with them, just another senerio thrown into the mix of missing tools...

    Moving the rear bumper in.

What type of transmission fluid should I use

Same here, Type F is all I ever used. Can't remember what the difference is but I know it was preferred for snappier shifts, the B&M shift kits always recommended either their brand of oil or type F.

I Can Never Pull Straight into My Garage

I had something like that happen in a parking garage, came out and literally had 1' to open my door! I started to walk around and thought.. no, I opened my door (daily beater) right into the damn car and squeezed in. I have absolutely no guilt for people so thoughtless and ignorant! On the...

    Charger to RR bumper swap

 Guess you could put it that way.

    Charger to RR bumper swap

I agree the rear is the least appealing aspect of the 71-74, as far as never matching though... anything can be done but yes drastic surgery will be needed.

    Charger to RR bumper swap

Lol, someone wants to get creative and nobody can offer encouragement? I do see why your pondering the idea, the Charger rear bumper is more appealing but it's going to involve some significant surgery, hope you can weld and fabricate. If done right it should look pretty cool.. keep me posted as...

    Why lump the 71-74's together?

Personally I think it should be categorized as pre crash standards and post crash standard muscle cars. I love 71-72's but after that I'd be swapping front ends, not that they're bad but really loose a lot of the muscles look.

    A Millenial Reviews a 1972 Road Runner

Jeez, let's not nitpick the poor guy.... he's not 60+ like most of you so he's likely just stating what he's learned falsely or not. Thanks for sharing.

Stereo Speakers in the Doors or Kick Panels?

I didn't like either of those options so I put them in the console. I'd likely do the door panel out of those 2 options for 2 reasons. #1 I'd hate the speakers always getting filthy and dented from being kicked. #2 I'd think the sound would be better.

    Alternator Upgrade?

What's the point in a 1 wire if you leave all of the unused wires, voltage regulator, etc... I guess dewire would have been a more accurate choice of wording lol.

    Alternator Upgrade?

I think we all know that you do know what your talking about lol. I've ran a few of the Tuff alternators and had nothing but good luck with them but yes they aren't cheap. I'll admit I love 1 wire alternators for the reason you mentioned (cleaning things up under the hood) but if someone isn't...

    Alternator Upgrade?

Looks like there's tons of adjustment left in that alternator bracket, would longer belts allowing the alternator to be swung out help? If you don't mind a little work modern alternators are much more compact. Check out Summit and Mancini. I'm running a Denso, big alt in a small package.

    Get brighter headlights

Wow, I even wondered how much difference there would be. My car was a basket case so it got halogens and relays during the restoration so I never got to see the original lighting. Pretty impressive that being all the same lighting with new wiring.

    Get brighter headlights

Once you take the time to understand a relay you'll say wow... now that's incredibly simple. The rest is choosing the right size and type of wires, connections and fuses. I highly recommend anybody who works on cars to take the time to understand them. In simple terms it's nothing more than a...
