When I put a 180 degree Robert Shaw stat in my 440, it made it very clear to me to get it the hell outta there. Didn't like it. I put a robert shaw 160 in it. My 440 is VERY happy now.

Never got a chance to check the timing because I couldn't get it started. The distributor hold down was tight. That distributor did NOT move. I did think of that and tried to turn the distributor. It wouldn't move. I believe the dist. is bad.
Quick update: I have 12v at the coil. The coil wire is shooting a nice crisp snappy spark. The plug wires are shooting a spark so faint that you have to squint to see if it's really happening. At this point, I'm putting the blame on the Proform "Mopar" distributor that I installed 2 years...

Super Bee Ski - I have a 74 Firebird Formula 400 and last year the car died a mile from my house. I scrapped all the MSD crap and put a single wire DUI in it. You're correct, it was like a new car. I wonder if the distributor in my Bee went bad. It's 2.5 years old.
