There are all aluminum replicas in 15” & 17” and larger sizes, but I suspect all the true to original, chrome steel Magnum 500s in 14/15” size are probably from a single manufacturing source. I know there have been some custom wheel shops that take old centers and weld them to different size...
Assuming they are steel, they may be flash chromed. I would be careful about aggressively polishing the shiny areas - if you go through the thin flash chrome they will always show a halo around the area. If that happens you pretty much have to buff it all off ( a lot of work) but the...
Didn’t all 66 Hemi Satellites come with full wheel covers and spinners stock? Belvedere IIs and Belvedere Is may have had hubcaps standard with the full wheel covers ( minus spinners) optional. At least that’s what I gathered from the sales brochure.
I used to have a 2017 Shelby GT350 and the specified torque was 150 ft-lbs for wheel lugs. I had to go get a bigger torque wrench that wasn’t going to be at the upper end of its capacity.
I have them on my ERA 427 Cobra and they have been a great tire. They are pretty highly regarded in the Cobra replica group as a good substitute for the crazy expensive Avons. Not to say they are in the same performance rank as the Avons but a better than average riding and handling tire that...
Also, you can look at the Mickey Thompson ST series tires that are made by Cooper. Supposedly they have a slightly upgraded rubber compound over the Cobras I have read. But they have the same ratings as the Cooper Cobras so I’m not sure I buy that completely. But they are good tires - I have...
I think you are right in that DB offers a couple to several line of tires you can request and they will buff the sides and apply the striping. That’s my understanding.
I can add a second on these. I have them on my 427 Cobra replica and they are a real nice street tire. They are essentially the same as the Cooper Cobra but I understand they have a slightly upgraded rubber formulation. At least that is what MT technical reps have reported but they are made...
I'm trying a small plating and metal finishing company on some chrome work right now - located in western Arkansas - Whitworx.
Whitworx Chrome Plating Services, Stainless and Aluminum Polishing
But I haven't actually received back any work from them yet. I went to them based on friends...
The hammers are not so particular as is the technique and other tools. Typically dents in SS are worked out with a nail-set like punch. Start on the edge of the ding and work in a a spiral around the dent, narrowing in on each circle around until you end up in the center. You want to tap the...
I have an older set of Coker redlines on my 67 GTX and they have held up OK. Feel like they could stand to be rebalanced but ride is not bad. But - in comparing pricing I think the Diamondback tires may be slightly cheaper than Coker and considering the generally good recommendations on...
Unless you are trying to stay completely original you may want to consider going to a 15x6 Magnums. The selection of 15 inch tires will be much better than 14 inch.
Here is mine with 215/75-15s which are around 27 inch dia.
I have a 67 GTX with 15x7 Magnums all around and 215/75 tires. They just barely can squeeze by the fender lip on the rear in trying to mount them with the axle hanging at full drop. So look carefully at your backspacing if trying to fit wide rims on the back of a 66/67 b-body.
