Valve cover gaskets 440 cork or rubber or something else?

I use the thick rubber gaskets, but I also have studs to keep the gaskets in place. And I put mine on dry.

Newer Indy Cast Aluminum Wedge Valve Cover Finish

Couldn't you sand the covers down and use high heat paint? I would think you could make those covers look really nice with little effort.

Timing seems off, vacuum super low

With the mixture screws turned out 2 full turns. I'd check where the throttle blades are in relation to the transfer slots under the carburetor. You shouldn't need more then 1.5 turns at the most.

    Hydraulic cam

Is it true I'd lose low end torque with that cam? I thought with my converter and gears it would make up for it.

Well seeing as how my motor is 10.5 compression with ported and polished 906 heads. M1 single plane intake, and all the other good stuff to make it a non stock motor. It's far from a stock motor.
