440 is childs play, when you have to do your timing with dremel tool it's do or die!

if you go to the trouble of dial indicating tdc and a degree wheel for gear installation good time to check your timing marks for accuracy before you get it back in the car!

I believe the key is cut in line with the rod journal so the key should be aiming middle of bore for TDC!

easy to test put it on a 9 volt battery and lick the end! if your not awakened turn it around!

if your going to use an easy out get the square ones with a blade edge if the walls are thin the twisted ones sometimes just expand the fitting making it tighter!

I had the hurst ss in my 66 with 6" handle was really uncomfortable but banging gears was like an auto! 2-3 shift was hard to stay ahead in the seat and see over the dash leaning that far ahead!

pretty sure you can buy an entire rebuild kit for a hurst! I think the word your looking for is "wave" washer!I'd start with linkage inspection and then the shifter if that doesn't solve the problem you have trans. issues but rebuilding the shifter will never be money wasted if you have to...

I know the hydro boost system in my 95 3500 truck with rear drums won't apply good pressure to the fronts if the rears are loose!The whole system has to work together or it's like stepping on a baked potato!

on the track with a 3500 stall converter it might hurt,but on the street I doubt you'd notice it! motor is likely running through a full exhaust system so I imagine the tunnel is likely way over kill in it's airflow ability!sounds like he's married to it with the hood mods and likes the look so...
