Where do I grab power for the electric fuel pump?

agreed, the carters are quiet and longevity is unrivaled, i still run 2 from 1981 feeding my 225 merc outboards at 7000rpm so volume isn't an issue and no regulator required! running mixed gas through them probably helped with life span!

Where do I grab power for the electric fuel pump?

install a pressure switch at oil pressure sender! wire the pump to run in key start position and take power from sender when switch closes it will only keep running sensing oil pressure!

Just triple checking my logic here....

you could if you relocate the wires to the corresponding terminal! 33imp posted "nothing sacred about location" other than somebody unaware of the changes might get a surprise when replacing wires if they didn't check first!

Crank, crank, tries to start as the key is released.

quite common with vehicles that have 3 stud solenoid, the solenoid is not making contact internally in the start position for ignition and when the key is released the inertia of the motor is enough for it to fire when the igntion changes to run position!

    66 neutral safety switch

I think tractors run a switch similar for 4wd and pto applications! if your having trouble locating right switch maybe take it too a jd dealer! if they have a match from deere it won't be cheaper!
