Which M/T tire did he have? And, exactly what did he mean by “slippery than Vaseline”. Did he mean poor straight line traction at the track, or street driving handling?

1- consider DiamondBacks. Your experience might be much better
2- 16s, IMO, are short for this world. Personally, I’d go 17s
3- my Wilwood (fronts only) actually fit my Ford 14” rims that I had on my Charger, and fit two different 15” Mopar wheels.

I posted something similar awhile back. My conclusion at the time was I had to decide which was the priority, the look, or the traction. I picked traction.
There is no good 14” tire available for a B-body today. They are simply too short and look dumb, IMO. P 225-60 is tall enough, barely, but not very wide.
Not clear if you are simply looking for the biggest tire that will fit w/o rubbing or opinion on size. Either way, I think you got the answer to both. Opinions can vary greatly on the latter.
Been a while since I looked, but I recall that the tread wear rating of the Cooper and BFG suggest that the BFG is a softer tire.
I hear all the talk, but has anyone had personal experience with a 10 year old tire with 20,000 miles, that is kept inside and looks perfectly fine just come apart...

Looks more like 17 or 18 lb net increase when compared to my previous track set- up.
