Yeah. I remember back when I was in high school, mid 1970's. A friends Dad had a 69 Chrysler station wagon with a 383 that had the magnum exhaust manifolds from the factory. That big wagon was pretty fast when he took it out one night..... LOL
This post makes me sad. I found a 68 R/T in this same color on a used car lot way back when I was a teenager. It was really nice, about 9 or 10 years old at the time. I wanted it badly, but didn't have the $$ to buy it. A guy I didn't know well from my same high school ended up with it for a...
I have often wondered too. BUT, this man was a mechanic AND a Mopar guy too. He knew his stuff. I kind of wonder if his 66 Fury was a late production car. Unfortunately, he passed away a couple years ago, so we will never know...
I am still a bit unsure about the info. I know the larger poverty cap ring was still used on B bodies until 1967. But perhaps the c bodies got the smaller ring earlier? I have wondered about it for years... BUT, the man I bought them from bought that 66 Fury brand new.
I just recently sold a perfect pair of those to an ebay re-seller. I bought them in 1976 from a friends father, who said they were the original caps on his 66 Fury. I have never seen any more of those caps, except for a couple of pics online. I have seen that same style caps with the Dodge...
My Dad was an auto shop teacher. He was one of the judges in the local contest, as well as being responsible for making the problems that the students had to find. As best I remember it was about 1971. I still have a window decal in an old photo album.
As in, the big terminal on the starter. But DONT short your wrench out against a ground.... Unhook the neg cable first. I had this problem on my Mopar when I was a teenager. Finally found out the old starter terminal had worn out inside from rubbing against the armature. It was flat on one side...
C Bodys dont get the love and respect they deserve. They are only 3 or 400 pounds heavier than a B Body, and have the same drivetrain options, except the hemi. Think of driving your Road Runner with a couple people in the back seat, which would equal things out. I used to have a 4 door 72 fury...
The TTI kits have an adjustable h pipe so they will work on the B motors as well as the RB motors. The original factory 440 H pipe was a one piece deal that would be too wide for a 383.
I just installed one on my 64 with a 361 and it works well. The 2-1/2" H pipe is a little low though, gotta...
That is the shear pin that allows the column to collapse when your body hits it in a hard front end collision. I dont think the column is usable after that pin is broken. See the lower part of the column that looks like mesh? That part telescopes in a collision and the shear pin hopefully keeps...
