New (yes....) fuel tank, cap won't twist into place? 72 Satellite wagon...

Didn't Mopar make a change sometime in the early 70's to a cap that had longer "prongs"? Could it be that the NOS tank is an earlier or later part? I would imagine that the same body was used 1971 to 1974 for these cars?? EDIT: I went to Rockauto and looked up the caps for a 1971 Satellite...

Going to the paint shop... what to beware of?

I just have trouble understanding why so many people have horror stories about old Mopars being in body shops for years, and getting parts lost, shops going outta business, etc. Body shops paint cars all day long, in and out, and done! But someone paying a super expensive price for a super...

1973 Dealer repaint of new car.

I saw it done at the Mack Truck dealership I worked at in 1980. They had a buyer that wanted a black R-Model, so they painted a yellow one. I think they did the door jambs, but everything under hood was still yellow. LOL

Cool 4 speed rallye, false info though

Interesting documentation, 400sforever. Good info. I see the hood treatment was listed as not available on the Charger SE, which adds to the questions in this thread...

Cool 4 speed rallye, false info though

This is a nice local car. I have never talked to the guy about it, but I feel sure the side stripes were added. I don't remember ever seeing any SE Chargers with the side stripes back when the cars were newer and more common. I have owned a couple of 3rd gen Chargers, and been a Mopar fan since...

Cool 4 speed rallye, false info though

My opinion is that it's a nice SE. Someone added the hood and side stripes after it left the factory. IMHO

    Sticky Doors

Is the latch mechanism well lubed? If not, it may be sticking. White lithium grease is what I believe to be correct. Works for me.

73’ Plymouth Satellite 4dr windshield linkage bushings.

I usually use channelock pliers and just squeeze them until they pop into place. Maybe a squirt of WD 40 would ease the process.

    Oil leak normal?

I have been working on my cars since I was a teen in the 1970s. Including complete engine rebuilds. And it seems that in the last few years, I have had similar issues. I am hoping I am not that bad of a mechanic... I honestly suspect that the quality of the parts that are now mostly made in...

318 to 440 swap. New driveshaft needed?

If a 727, probably not. But a 904 will be shorter, so the driveshaft would be longer than one for a 727. I had to get a shaft when I went from a 440/727 to a 318/904 in a Charger.

I had a 69 Coronet R/T, 440 automatic car. No AC, and it had the 22" radiator.
