    Dried silicone tube reuse

Lots of them do now. I use the tape on the end trick like shown late in the video. Just cut the tape off with a utility knife when need to use the caulk again. Reseal with more tape. I have had a tube of silicone last about a year when using this method. Black Gorilla tape is my "go to" for...

Rattle can shaker tool I made

I just use a large worm drive radiator hose clamp and a long rough in blade. Been using the same blade for years now.

    What is this tool?

My Dad had something that looked similar. It was a clutch plate alignment tool. Different ends screwed on to go into the pilot bushings, and the tapered collar pushed up the shaft to center the clutch disc. Been 40+ years since I used it, but it looked similar if I recall correctly. Of course...

    Love my Super Sawzall but.....

I have a couple of the Ryobi One+ drill and driver combos. Got a Ryobi battery recip saw to keep in my truck. It's handy, and I like it. But I have not done much heavy cutting with it yet. Best use so far was cutting down some shrubs and weed tree saplings well away from the house with no power...

    Daytona 3 ton jack

I found mine pretty handy when my daughter had a Hyundai and I had my Lincoln Town Car too.

    Daytona 3 ton jack

I have a HF Pittsburg 3 ton low profile jack, and have a newer Daytona low profile, long reach jack. The Pittsburg strained a lot lifting my Dodge 3/4 ton and my Lincoln Towncar. The orange Daytona has no problem. I use them both in my garage, but the Daytona is my favorite by far. I have found...

Got the Classic Backyard Buddy 4 post lift installed today...

Wow. Is there any sort of safety stop switch or mechanism to keep someone from accidentally stuffing the top of a vehicle into the ceiling?

Got the Classic Backyard Buddy 4 post lift installed today...

I was wondering also. I only have 9-1/2 feet in my garage, and have wondered if one of these type lifts would be usable.

    Portable kerosene heater ideas please

I have a nice new unused one you can have. I used to use them, but the oily black residue and the fumes convinced me to go with a couple of those propane heaters that clip onto a 20LB cylinder. They heat better, and you don't have the fumes and mess.

Sandblasting: What abrasives do you suggest?

Seems like the grease needs to go away before blasting. I would think the grease would get mixed in with the abrasive and cause problems. The old shop I worked in, the parts were hot tanked to degrease them before they entered the glass beading cabinet. The bead blasting was mainly for removal...

Stick welding using a peice of wood

What am I missing here? What exactly is being accomplished? Just welding two pieces of square tubing?

    Another garage..

Ahhh, I remember my days in the construction business. The best feeling in the world is when you get back above grade and can start the real fun work. (I loved carpentry, but hated digging and block work! LOL)

What kind of pliers do I need for this clamp?

I took them off my car when the hose rotted and replaced with the common worm gear clamp. I wasn't real concerned about the "concourse correct" crap, and wanted the much better and stronger clamps.

    Question for the construction guys.

I used to put a lot of vinyl siding over old Masonite. It has really almost NO structural strength. And it falls apart if it gets wet on the back side. Your idea of stripping over it with 1x6 would probably work very well. But, I agree with the others that say to use house wrap over top of it...

Finally time to pull the trigger . . . starting on the New (much anticipated) SHOP - Build

Has anybody checked the cost of building a cinder block building vs wood stud walls lately? I have began to think about doing another garage, but WOW on lumber prices!
