Do you guys in Canada not have muffler shops that can bend and make exhaust pipes? There are at least 3 in my area that I know of. A a single tailpipe should not be a big deal for a muffler shop. And, is a tailpipe for a slant six any different than a left side tailpipe for a single exhaust V8...
I don't have a picture handy, but I put an exhaust system on my 67 R/T way back in about 1979 or so. Back when you could still buy these replacement pipes from local auto parts stores. It's still on there. I always thought my tailpipes looked a little bit too short, but this thread has me...
I never understood why Ma Mopar put the 2-1/2" pipes back to the mufflers, and then choked down to 2-1/4" tailpipes. Wonder if it was engineered that way for a reason, or just to make it easier to get the smaller tailpipes in between the springs and gas tank on the production line?
I installed a TTI 2-1/2" dual exhaust kit on my 64 Fury after changing over to the HP style manifolds. I like it a lot, and it fit well. But I was also replacing the original skinny pipe single exhaust on my 361. You need to provide TTI with the casting numbers from the manifolds so they can...
A 66 Plymouth 318 would have been the older Poly style engine with different heads. The LA 318 started in 1967. That's probably why their catalog says they would not fit an original 1966 318. My opinion is that they will work on your car. However, I did a swap once and the headers I used...
From what I have read of your car, I would bet money that the valve stem seals are old and cracked. That will suck a lot of oil into the combustion chamber. I have an all original low miles 67 Buick that has never been touched. I get the oil smoke at start ups from this...
Oil smoke is a light bluish color. Too rich a fuel mixture or sticking choke will cause a dark grey or blackish smoke. The oil smoke has a mild burned smell, and the fuel smoke has a more sharp and raw smell that will almost seem to burn your senses if it is very rich.
I thought all wagon exhausts were turned out to the side so as to prevent pulling fumes into the passenger compartments with the rear windows down. Of course, wagons usually only had singles.
I'm very happy with the 2-1/2" kit from TTI that I put in my 64 Fury. This was from later HP factory manifolds back to the turn down tailpipe ends. Fit and quality were good. It has been several years, but I think it was about $650 to 675 or so if I recall correctly. Easy to do laying in the...
They should all bolt up to the engine. The orientation of the flange to the exhaust pipe is different on different models. The TTI website was helpful to me with casting numbers and knowing which flange orientation I would need when adding the later HP manifolds to my 64 Fury...
I did this on my Plymouth when converted to duals. But don't just drill the 4 dimples. I assumed they were a pilot for the bolt on bracket. They were apparently a location guide only, as the bolt pattern of the hanger bracket was different. (Slightly larger) Be careful you dont drill the holes...
