You might consider carefully drilling and tapping the chrome trim from the backside. I would only do this with a drill press. Use small stainless machine screws to re-attach.
I been told not to test the motor without proper torsion resistance. It is my understanding that you can damage internal gears and switches.

I am reassembling my 1972 Charger after being off the road for 11 years. I routed the positive battery cable I purchased many years ago and it is too short unless I bypass the straps on the inner fender. Can someone provide a reference length for the positive battery cable required for a 1972...
I am looking for some opinion on an idea. Is there any interest in converting a standard rear valance for a 1972 Plymouth B-Body to a dual exhaust cut-out valance by using U.S.A. manufactured inserts. These inserts would of course need to be welded in place and cost in the range of $150-175...
My Oct ‘71 built Charger with a 400 Magnum has the braces. Someone I know that is really into the 1971-‘74 cars said the ‘72 Air Grabber/Ramcharger cars did not have the braces. I had no idea this much discussion would result.
All interesting conversation. I will post photos of what I have for a final opinion. It seems that all ‘72s should have braces but the question is making sure you have the correct shape.
