Yes, I needed to bend the metal piece as it was bowing out.

I recently had mine apart, there are metal pieces that hold the duct baffles, they also control the left and right movement. These can be rusty or bent which in turn affects the movement of the baffles. I de-rusted mine and lubricated the baffles and not they operate smoothly.

Got mine out to them at the end of February, I know it will be worth the price. Good luck with yours.

I refurbished my box using a spare broken box, used a Dremel to cut pieces and patched using JB Weld. I had a lot of spare parts because the two that I received through the mail ultimately got damaged going from the US to Canada. I also used the DMT kit.

Yeah my other two boxes looked similar, I did a lot of cutting and filling with JB Weld and spare heater box material. Good luck with it.

Just wanted to add that my 72 Charger with A/C is the same as numbers you mentioned above. My build date is July 71.
