See if you can find a donor door. I know these are a one year only part and you will pay, but it's the best solution.

Yep that is all good stuff. As I don't have another to compare its hard to see, but knew that there has been some tweaking. I took some measurements today. Sorry for metric, its all I had. 30mm = 1 3/16" which I am sure is way too much gap.

Not sure how well your car has been painted in the past, but you could try removing something on the fire wall. It may have the original color under it, or trunk latch, sills, something like that. Then you can cross reference paint chips for 68 Plymouth to match it up.
