Rebuild it. Only then will you be able to see if there are any internal problems. 73 prop valves are made of steel, not brass so it could have pitting inside.
James is a standup guy. Can't imagine why he hasnt answered you, but I am sure he will provide an explanation for you and replace the part if necessary.
You say you have all new steering parts. Does that mean that you have replaced all of the rubber components, ball joints etc, or have you just replaced the steering box? Collectively, small amounts of wear on all of the parts can add up to a big problem.
Not to hijack your thread, but I have a 73 steel proportioning valve that I want to rebuild. What would y’all recommend for that? Replace it with a repopped brass one or rebuild the steel one? At this stage I have no idea what the internals of it look like. A 73 Charger is not a high dollar car...
Does anybody know where to buy a rebuild kit for this? I would rather rebuild my own than buy a re-popped one. Also the shipping will be killer for me. I would also like to put a stainless steel sleeve in it. I plan on rebuilding the booster while I am at it so also need parts for that.
I did not use PST since they would not sell to me because I am on the wrong side of the border; US sales only apparently.
I think you will find that things have changed. PST shipped my parts to me in New Zealand about 6 months ago. Very good to deal with.
Hmmm, do you mean this tool?
