The box is fine. It's the pumps that were no good. What are the odds that both rebuilt pumps were toast - or I messed up the rebuilds.

Well, found the problem. It was the pump(s) all along. I had several old pumps lying around and put one on and all is well. Thanks to all who responded.

Hi, Just did a complete rebuild on this pump and the screen is clean. This is the second pump I have rebuilt with the same results.

All that is good and tight - no belt slippage.

I stripped the threads on a strut arm once - it's somewhere around 100 lbs torque also. The culprit - the threads were lubed and that increased the torque, thus resulting in failure. Make sure threads are dry.

Belt is not new, but typically I would expect to hear belt slippage / squealing. I will check this though.
