I think the 15" wheels look much better than the 14".. I don't know why they used 14" in the first place... My opinion, cost more, but get chrome spokes instead of polished aluminum. Less maintenance..........................MO
I prefer no white letters. But what tires have a nice smooth black sidewall without a bunch of designs embossed on them? ( Ribs etc.) And keeping radials with tread design on the shoulders , clean, is a PITA......................MO
I was going for the old school look... I had new center cups for the front "mags" but for some reason, a lot of mid 60's drag cars never had them on....................MO
Been doing a lot of on line searching, and called a big tire store in Omaha.
found that 235 60 15 is not very common these days. Very few are in stock , and several manufacturers don't even make them anymore. Summit is about the best source
I didn't check Jegs yet.
Pretty sure I am...
I found that Summit BF Goodrich Radial T/A is now supplied by Coker. Coker is too pricey in my book. However they would be my 2nd choice.................MO
Where do I start searching on line? I have decided on four 235 - 60 - R 15. Radials. High performance not needed. They will be blackwalls or blackwall out. I would like as smooth a sidewalls as I can find ( easy to clean with no ridges) non aggressive tread ( never in snow) wider tread...
OK, I am going with 235 -60 -R15 or 235 -70- R15.
I would like the smoothest sidewall black side out. Any recommendations? ............Thanks......................MO
Dale, I took pics of my Satty left mirror, and I think that right mirror that's on the car we loaded, matches it. I will send pics later...............Stay warm and dry...............Steve.
I am about ready to order the Keystone Klassics. The lug nuts for them is for right hand threads only. The Satty is not here, but I think one side is left hand threads. I will probably have to change those studs to right hand threads, I think wheel studs are 1/2" - 20 thread ...
It has to be radials, I have had them all--remember cold "flat spot" nylon tires and how they thumped till they got warmed up? I really do/did like the looks of those wide oval polyglas tires that was on my new 68 Roadrunner, liked the tread pattern and the more squared of shoulders. Doubt you...
This car will be a stock 318 with 904 cruiser. 1 spare tire same size. I agree , the larger tires on the back look better, but I have Brutus, the 64 Dodge for that look , and the burn outs! We plan to do a lot of highway miles with the Satty. ....................MO
No particular reason. Just felt that 6" was too narrow since it won't be stock " wide oval polyglas" and that 8" might be a little wide on the front . All 4 tires the same for sure.....................Thanks, ..............................MO
This is for my 68 Satellite -Roadrunner tribute car project. It will be raised just slightly from stock height front and back. I want to get my new wheels and tires, going with 15X7" Keystone Klassics by Cragar. I think the backspace is 3 3/4" Recommended tire size is from 205 to 215 with...
I think the "tire shine" crap is what turns the white letters dis colored. If I am judging at a car show, and see shiney tires with dis colored RWL , I will deduct points..............................MO
I have had several lighter weight 4 speed cars. I used to beat a lot of bigger engines because I knew how to launch with less traction tires. The car I drag raced (strip only) would launch great, but it was an automatic. I'm convinced with the ignition set up and then tune the carb, I should...
