    Anybody seen these?

Very common in 18 wheelers. I had several in my 1981 359 Peterbilt. You should be able to get those at any large truck parts counter. .........................MO

Anyone still looking for Retro style SUN Tachometers?

Several on ebay right now.....It appears that the Sun Super Tach was the original , manufactured by Sun. It has the larger red shift point needle with the adjustment knob in the center of the lense, The Sun Super Tach ll has the small red pointer adjustable around the outer edge. That one ...

Anyone still looking for Retro style SUN Tachometers?

So , I expect yours from 1965 has the separate transmitter? I don't know when they changed to the all contained in the tach, but mine in 1968 was. Possibly they offered both versions at the same time? ...................................MO

Anyone still looking for Retro style SUN Tachometers?

And that nasty old thing is not even the desirable one. That looks more like the cheap Sun Pro version. The original Sun Super had a large red needle for the shift point with the adjuster knob in the center of the lens..........................MO

Anyone still looking for Retro style SUN Tachometers?

I recently bought a new Bosh tach that looks like the Sun Super. I haven't installed it yet, but I am impressed. First impression was how it was packaged from Bosh---You will not believe how well it is packaged. Inside a clear plastic box and screwed down so it can't move around. Got both...

Replacing springs in my stock distributor, 69 RR 383

    Upgrading points 68 Roadrunne

If you go Pertronix, you may as well get their " flamethrower" 40,000 volt coil too. Not very expensive, and you can eliminate the ballast resistor. It is built into the coil..........MO

    Electronic ignition from points

I have had the I and now have the III ..love it ! The III does not have the sleeve that goes over the points cam--uses just the stock points cam. And , it converts back to points very easy if something should go wrong. Take a points set along for peace of mind......................MO

    No Spark At Coil

Yes, that was my thought too. Things just not making sense. I have had a Pert. 1 and when I got my III it did not have the sleeve to go over the points cam. I'm glad you informed us as to the difference.......................MO

    No Spark At Coil

I have no use for a ballast resister unless you want it for original appearance. Take it off -throw it away or store it. With points , simply buy a coil from your parts store that is labeled" no external resister ( ballast) needed" The starting full 12 volts , all the time, wire from the...

    No Spark At Coil

Wire it the way Pertronix instructions say. Do not go by a Mopar electronic wiring diagram...................................MO

Vacuum advance does not affect the "haul *** quotient", correct?

I too have my total advance limited to 36 degree with 16 degree of mechanical advance, 10 degree vacuum advance , and 10 degree of initial advance. If I dis-connect the vacuum and bump my initial to 20 degrees, as you have..have you had any starting problems with kick back or any other...

    New dizzy wiring question.

I am not a fan of Mopar electronic ignition, even tho it is used by nearly everyone. So much simpler to use a good stock points dist, convert it to a pertronix III ignition , use a coil that has internal resister ( any parts store) and throw that friggen ballast resister away ! Or use one of...

What style is this? Trying to install pertronix

You can by pass the ballast resistor with any internally resistor coil available at all parts stores. They will be imprinted on the outside " no external resistor needed" or something to that effect. ..............................MO

That is exactly my plan a little ways down the road. I had the Pertronix I and the coil in my old 56 Chrysler 354 Hemi and am absolutly sold on it. Does the III do everything as advertised , such as rev limiter and other features? Thanks for your reply.................................MO
