I was told that some of the materials used to make paint years ago , is no longer available. Lead for one. I think that is why we can't get an exact match for QQ1 now. I ordered my 1968 Roadrunner , in that color , In January of 1968. ......................... MO
One of the problems with getting todays paint formula's to match the original formula is, Some of the materials used back in the day, are no longer available. Example, lead. they tell me that lead affects the color . I wanted to buy my paint locally and Martin Seynor basecoat clear coat...
I expect you know , the QQ1 was a one year only color. Where did you find the color formula and where did you get your paint? The attached pic is my tribute car to the 68 Roadrunner I ordered new from the dealer. Looks like you are doing stellar work..................MO
Glad to see another QQ1 electric blue fan . I ordered a new 1968 Roadrunner from the factory , in that color with a black vinyl top. I will try to attach some pics of my recently completed 1968 Sport Satellite. From the outside, it looks like my 68 Roadrunner did. Inside stock interior is...
I'm thinking the other hole that looks like a speaker hole , may be to intake interior air and be the blower motor mounting? .......................................MO
Your pic makes me ask, why did Ma Mopar use two different size speakers in the rear package tray? I had to exchange my speakers because of that..............................MO
I think maybe you are making the best choice for yourself. That QQ1 is a little dicey on coming out the way you want it...Too many things that can affect the fianal color. Heck, I am not 100% sure my current QQ1 is exactly the same as in 1968................Good Luck .........................MO
I ordered a new Roadrunner in 1968 with the QQ1 electric blue paint. I am doing a tribute car to it , just got it pained a little over a week ago. Same color. I found that color was a one year only color ( for whatever reason) and it is hard to come up with the correct formula. I was told it...
IIRC when I first saw the new 1967 GTX in mag ads, I think they probably were that color, with wide black stripes running front to back... Oh how bad I wanted that car !!.........................MO
Jerry, I just now realized I have done business with you before! The anodizing is very close to looking like the alum polished ...Really pleased, thanks a lot.....MO
Thank You. I'm on the same page as you. A trophy is nice , but I'm not one to expect it. I go to a show to meet people and talk about our cars. If you drive them, that rock chip is going to come sooner or later... There are so many variables to a paint job. The amount of body work and prep...
Glad you like it. I keep the thought in mind that I would like to get up your way . Gas is cheap and now I have no where to go ! Any place up there that is open for lunch? .............................MO
Thanks Kern. Yes, Dodge had that same color for 1968 only , but a little different code number and IIRC it was called " bright blue" I think the next year (1969) was the first of the B5 blues.................MO
I wanted to buy paint and materials locally, so I could get more if needed, which I did need more color. Good thing because the paint mixer tech messed up the formula , and they had to stand the cost of correcting it. Which they did, no problem...
It is Martin Seynor from NAPA They were the...
