Many years ago, I took the complete rear sway bar setup out of a junkyard '80's Police Diplomat and installed it in my '67 Coronet station wagon. I had to modify the frame brackets because the B-body frame rail is wider than a Dippy rail. This made a huge difference in how the wagon handled. I...
My 1964 Dodge service manual shows how this power booster can be disassembled and repaired. It looks pretty straight forward. I think that many larger centres have businesses that can rebuild a booster. I had my more complicated Bendix booster rebuilt in nearby London,Ontario, and it works fine...
I have had that rear bar on two of my cars, and the pipes clear fine. It was a factory bar on '80's Diplomat police car, so was made to clear exhaust. Similar to E-body and '71 and up B-body.
Front wheel spindles for drum brakes were the same on B-bodies from 1962-1970, and are interchangeable side to side with no geometry problems. I put a disc brake setup from a 1970 B-body on my 1964 Polara. This was done almost 40 years ago, when you could still find this stuff in local junk...
Years ago, I built a one-of-none 1967 Coronet R/T station wagon, complete with 440, 4-speed. In driving the car, I always felt the rear end of the car was kinda loose; "wagon" its tail. On junk yard trips, I found that '80's Diplomat police cars all had rear sway bars, and the rear ends were...
My 1967 R/T is 440, power steering, no A/C. It has TRW pump with 5 1/2" pulley. Power steering belt is # 17411 ( 41" ). You can get one from RockAuto, CarQuest, O'Reilly's, etc.
I think what @dadsbee is getting at, is that forum members took time to volunteer help and suggestions, apparently 4 pages worth. Now you are back asking the same question. Really, most of us are quite willing to share our experience and knowledge with those following in our footsteps. At the...
This has happened to me too. Lots of times, when the weight is off the suspension, the rear shackle is pointed straight up/down. When the weight of the car comes back down, then it is 50/50 whether the shackle kicks back or ahead.
I have 3800 lb. SS springs under both my cars. If you look at your passenger side spring, you will notice that the leaf directly under the main leaf stops well short of the rear spring shackle. Compare it to the driver side spring where this underleaf extends almost to the rear shackle, giving...
That switch looks like it could be used to activate cruise control.
NO = brake lights
NC = cruise control
Pushing the brake pedal closes the NO side, turning on brake lights. At the same time, the NC side opens, shutting off the CC. Neat!
It looks like a nice piece. I wish I had found it when I...
Master cylinders for 4-wheel drum brakes must have residual valves in both front and rear circuits to keep wheel cylinder cups from collapsing. Residual valve maintains about 3 lbs. pressure on circuit. Master cylinder for front disc/rear drum system would have no residual valve in the front...
Your power steering box likely has the larger 5/8" return hose, and most of the newer pumps have a smaller one. You will need to get the smaller inlet block from a newer steering box to complete this conversion. The placement of this block on the box affects how it works, so be careful to get it...
The easiest way is to source front spindles and caliper brackets off an old 5th Ave. or Diplomat. Everything else can be bought new at Car Quest or O'Reilly's.
