My '67 R/T has a TRW (Thompson) pump on it. I believe your pump is TRW as well, looking at bracket and pulley. I installed Vintage Air in my 1964 Polara that also had a TRW pump. My '64 had the earlier style 2-piece stamped steel mounting bracket. I had to buy a repro bracket like yours to mount...
I would upgrade to Sanden compressor, and buy a new condenser and drier from Vintage Air. Because of the way the condenser is made, you need to buy one 2" wider than your rad opening. So, in your case, 28". The Sanden compressor will run fine with one belt, so no more flapping second belt. I...
22" rad was standard erquipment on 1968 R/T. 26" would be optional as part of A/C, towing, or axle package. The size of the opening in your rad support would tell what rad it came with. I have a 1967 R/T that came standard with 26" rad, but this became option in 1968.
Here's mine on my 1964 Polara. I did not like the idea of running the lines outside of the inner fender. I ran the A/C lines inside of engine compartment to the under dash unit. I used a molded 5/8" hose to turn the heater hoses around to come through firewal lin approximate location of original...
I used Vintage Air setup on my '64 Polara, which under the hood, is identical to your car. Like you, I did not care for their routing of A/C lines and heater hoses. I came up with a way of routing all the hoses within the engine compartment, where they belong. A couple of years ago, I posted...
If you go on Vintage Air website, they have a page that gives measurements of various boxes. One deciding factor is that VA has dealer here in Ontario (Horton's Hot Rods). Paul was very good to deal with.
My engine previously had A/C on it with Chrysler's big V-2 compressor on it. So, this gave me a 4 groove pulley on he crankshaft and the special brackets for the alternator needed for A/C setup. Also special pulley and tensioner pulley for the water pump.
The belts on the 2 rear grooves on...
If you get 2 random A/C belts, even though they are same part number, they can be slightly different lengths. Then, one will be tight, and the other will be loose, and will slap. They used to be sold in matched pairs, and were the exact same length.
I installed Vintage Air in my 1964 Dodge Polara, which is pretty much like your Coronet. Like you said, nobody makes a kit for the early B-body. I don't like how the hoses are routed in the kit, out through the inner fender access hole and over the front passenger tire. I went through their...
I once had a leak between the block and the timing case on the 318 in my 5th Ave. We were leaving for a trip, and I did not have time to screw around with it, so I dumped some Bardahl Stop Leak in it. As the engine ran, I watched the leak slow down and eventually stop. We had this car for a...
We have more than one horse here in Aylmer (Amish community north of town), but I still got my '64 radiator recored to 3 row, here in town. About $450.00 Can.( I think that's about $80.00 U.S. LOL).
I am pretty sure that a 22" radiator was standard equipment on '69 Charger and Coronet R/T with 440. The 26" was optional with a shroud and clutch fan as part of a H. D. cooling package. Some 22" rad will accept a shroud and some will not, depending on style of side straps. If rad is only two...
I found the same thing putting Vintage Air into my 1964 Polara. The '62-'65 B-bodies have a weird fresh air plenum that dumps out on the right side kick panel area. This big oval hole gets blocked off, with no hope for ducted fresh air.
Vintage Air has a complete system to upgrade your 1970 Charger. There is a kit for cars that already had factory air, as yours, and another for cars that did not. They have a website that shows all their products. Tech help is also available.
I thought "LA" motors had the lower hose inlet on the other (passenger ) side? Try RockAuto for rad hoses. They usually have a picture of the hose, if this helps.
