I can guarantee you can pull that plug out of the intake manifold on a 383 without getting wet. You need a port on the outlet side of the pump. If you're NOT running a heater core, that outlet may work, or as mentioned above.

The other one does the hazards. You can check for power at the flasher plug with your voltmeter, one side will have power of course when the switch is on. I find that my switch seems to get dirty contacts if I don't use them for a while. A few times switching them on-off-on usually clears it...
