Have you looked into why the rotors are burning? Old wires, big plug gaps can cause that.

There are a few racers using Racer Brown cams. Not a lot. Jim can still grind mushroom lifter cams. last I heard, finding the lifters was getting more difficult. And yes, Jim still does all the grinding himself.

What size fuel line from the tank? You would need 3/8" or 1/2" to avoid starvation at max rpm, the factory 5/16" may not be enough.

Yup, both correct above. The variation is in the casting of the case. A dial indicator on the crankshaft to the pump bore is the way to go.
