My 318 was always running hot, especially when checking the exhaust manifolds with a laser pistol thermometer. Eventually found out the cooling system was running almost 100% anti-freeze when I used one of those little mini-hydrometers to check the freeze protection. Going 50/50 cooled things down.
My two barrel '72 Satellite 318 (2.71 rear gear) was getting 17 MPG highway last road trip.
Back in '71 my parents new 1971 383 (low compression/regular gasoline) auto Road Runner (3.23 rear gear) was getting 12.5 MPG with mixed driving (mostly highway though). It came with a Holley carb from...
Just based on seeing water seep into other areas unexpectedly, I was just wondering "what if".
And I did see a post somewhere once (maybe not on FBB0), where the installer actually put silicone or some other sealer in there. I guess I was a little shocked reading that at the time, because I...
The question/doubt I still have is how to best handle the carpet that ends under the door sill. It seems water could seep in that area where the sill clamps down on the carpet.
I have seriously been thinking about adding the reverse light to my '72 SSP torqueflite, I like the idea. I don't remember seeing/hearing anybody do it before. Tapping into the reverse lights would not be a problem.
The brothers who I sold the Valiant to in 1980, spent $2 million dollars more on it (during the period 1980-2000), making it the quickest '65 Valiant four door on the planet. Same car today (no longer street legal):
On a tight budget, you should start with a four door model, bought my '65 Valiant for $125.00 (back in the day). Then while in Community College Auto Tech class, I built it up the street legal small block 273 V8 to be quicker than a street Hemi (12.72 ET @ 108 MPH):
I don't agree with "Mity mounts" claims that solid motor mounts fail frequently, but what do I know?
Mity Mount online tutorial on motor mounts:
Why not solid motor mounts?
"It seems paradoxical, but solid steel motor mounts actually fail very frequently. There is a very good reason why auto...
Here in Mexico, many people want to know what model our '72 Satellite Sebring Plus is (the only badging it has is "Plymouth" on quarter panels). When I tell them it is a Satellite, they seem satisfied (not disappointed). What I am saying is I think there may be a trend to go back to original...
Mine was reading 3/4 full, then one day I topped the tank to the max and ever since then it reads full when full (but now it shows empty when it has 4-5 gallons).
Have all production Road Runners had front stabilizer bars from the very beginning (1968)? I know rear bars were standard beginning 1972. I am not sure if front and rear were standard from 1972 to end of production in 1980.
I have never seen a 19" radiator in a V-8, although I know that is what is specified in the FSM. My '72 BBody 318 auto without A/C has an aftermarket 22", 7 blade fixed fan, and no shroud.
MY '65 Barracuda Formula S (A body) 273 CID has the factory 22" radiator, and a fixed 6 blade fan, looks...
