My dual exit side exhaust use "Purple Hornies" glasspack mufflers (no crossover tube) and are good and loud. In the future I plan on adding some kind of resonators to quiet it down just a tad.
1972 Plymouth Satellite Sebring Plus, stock 318 auto, stock exhaust manifolds, dual exhaust with "Purple Hornies" mufflers exiting in front of rear tires. No H pipe, no drone.
Thrush also had a another version "Hush Thrush". I don't know what they were marketed for, maybe just trying to cash in on stock replacement muffler market?
I ran a pair of Thrush mufflers in the '70's that were the model
advertised to contain no fiberglass filler to burn out, this was on a factory stock '71 383 automatic Road Runner (a special order car purchased by my parents).
First off, we noticed the idle speed sound to be about twice as loud...
My ten-year old TTI exhaust system is starting to show some spotty rust in a few sparse areas. The system is currently out of the vehicle. Would like to freshen it up with some heat resistant paint (rattle cans). I get the feeling this aluminized tubing may react like galvanized metal and reject...
Currently have a pair of Purple Hornies on the '72 Satellite 318 with side exit. A little loud at cruise, looking to add resonators some day soon. Never a drone sound. Sound byte:

I put thrush mufflers on the new '71 Road Runner my parents bought. Drove it to high school two years, no problems.
Sold the car to a friend who re-installed the factory mufflers after getting a ticket right away. You never know.
According to 1971 Plymouth Dealer Guide found on hamtramck-historical.com, 1971 "Decorative Exhaust Tip" option N42 for $21.90 was standard on GTX and Hemi, optional on Road Runner and not available on other models.
However, there is a note: N/A California.
So GTX and Hemi vehicles sold in...
Never saw pipes that straight underneath, looks great.
Side note: I put a pair of Thrush straight through mufflers (the hollow model with no fiberglass packing) on parent's new '71 Road Runner--at Fremont Raceway a bystander said he could here my car running next to one with open headers...
The head pipe part numbers are for the factory 68-70 340 hi performance exhaust manifolds driver casting #2863553 (EB25LE) and passenger casting #2863549 (A25RE). The pair of 2.5" head pipes are listed for $193.00 for the moment.
Just wondering about the fit of this particular TTI product and...
