I use a portable a lot they are heavy and do a very good job, I’ve crimped 5k psi hydraulic hose and never lost one yet. Save some scraps to practice on,but get a few fittings to use with those scraps.
I would find out what brand you of hoses and fittings you have and look for a vendor that will crimp them for you , make sure you clock your fittings then mark them . Call a few hydraulic shops and you may even be able to rent a air operated portable compressor with dies.
That’s a hard one to find. They make a repop kit for the ducts leaving the HVAC box but I have yet to see the duct coming from the cowl vent to the hvac box for a ac car.
No, I prefer Chrysler ac systems because they work very well . The choice is yours but I would stay away from China parts for it. The air temp system is heavy but it’s also simple and long lasting. Parts still pretty easy to find there are made in USA condensers out there. Put a WTB ad for parts...
I’m a fan oem stuff, very well built and usually lasts a long time. Aftermarket has one advantage imo, weight of the compressor. Most compressors are chinesium now a days. Oem set ups “fit” aftermarket is made to fit. The V2 will frost your windows on a hot summer day. Neither system is cheap...
If you didn’t change your hoses to barrier type hoses get used to topping it off . Old hoses don’t play well with 134A. That being said all Orings should be serviced too. It does sound like you have a leak somewhere , look for oily residue and if not noticeable add a little charge and some UV...
Is this for a 69/70 unit? It looks great ! The V2 compressor is a hoss of a unit and nearly bullet proof . I had mine done but used oem parts, by a older gent by me.
You should have a port off of the manifold that usually has power brakes and a little port coming off. It threads in the driver side rear of the manifold, then a little vac line runs thru the fire wall. I can’t recall exactly where it goes once it gets into the cabin.
If it’s factory ac I’d look for parts to put it back together the way it was... but if money is snug a sanden compressor with universal hoses and fittings is pretty easy..
The hose to the condenser coming off the driver side goes like this: compressor to a metal line with a muffler, that hooks to a rubber line that hooks to a line that runs along the top of the inner fender over the fender tag and connects to the condenser. There are clamps that screw it to the...
I feel you would be making a mistake to remove the ac. If you’re looking to clean up the engine bay it will, but on a 100 degree day and your legs stick to the vinyl seats you may experience regret.
Be careful with those Mr Gasket stats! I’ve had two high flow fail in a row on my buddies charger and it caused an accident when the hose blew off because it stuck shut.. Those are unreliable. They are China made , I switched personally to the high flow Milodon and no issues yet..
