ECS was selling carpet, I do believe it was made by ACC. The carpet they sold was unique and had more meat around the sides and was better for figment as it was shipped flat.

Legendary is my top choice. If your in question find a good upholstery shop and ask if your trying to retain the original cover.. Some shops can do wonders!

Kern dog start with a piece of cardboard or fiber board , then to a aluminum plate and maybe move up to something you could machine in mill and give it a look that is way different and you won’t ruin anything.. 1/4 thick plate of aluminum? Then machine it however you please!

I think it will look pretty butchered if you go that way kern dog. I’d look for a manual for it, maybe even a beat up one for free just for a sample to “fit it”. Glad to hear gonna be rowing the boat! Probably gonna have to spring for a new or gently used one.

You may also consider adding an extra plate underneath for reinforcements for the two holes your about to drill thru the floor otherwise you just counting on one piece of sheet metal to hold while the other side is factory.

Try a stoddard sovent and see what that does, it will remove black shoe polish from tan carpets !
