I raced a 1962 383 Stock Eliminator Dodge that had an OEM Mopar cast iron
intake with Mopar number on it. NHRA must of thought they made them as
I have several friends that still race them in Class in stock today.
3310 Holley works well on a 383 as it is a versatile
carb for many different applications.
I have also in the 60/70s seen a nice improvement with
a 440 AVS which has 11/16 primaries. These bolt
on your stock (301) intake and together work nearly
as well as aftermarket manifolds and Holleys on...
I run one with a drop bottom.
The one I run is a reproduction of 66/67 427 Corvette bottom.
There are others that would probably work but that is what I found
that would fit.
I never have seen any difference on the track over a 3 Inch and very
little if any over a 2 Inch filter.
I ran one on my 383 1964 Plymouth back in the 60's
It ran slower than the factory cast iron manifold even thou
it was lighter.
Back then I bought a lot of Weiand manifolds direct from the factory.
They would for an extra charge cast their intakes with extra Aluminum
so that you could port it to...
It was definitely both as I raced both with that combo.
My close friends Don Studley and Al Etter held the E/SA record back
then with their 62 Plymouth wagon (RIP my good friends).
I had a 1963 Fury (Two Four set up) 318 that held the national record in AHRA way back then (12.20 in the late 60s. It. I was originally built by the Smith
Bros. and ran out of Burbank Speed. They traded me the entire car for a legal set of 426 Stage Heads back then that they were desperate to...
Correct on the one year only "paper only" 343 engine never really available
engine cooked up by Mopar and Clay Smith Engineering back then.
I owner a 62 Dodge F/SA 343 wagon called the "Orange Crate" with a
200 Lbs leaded in roof under the full length Vinyl top. I bought it not was
not the...
They were available for a couple years.
Especially common on(84 to 86) trucks and cop cars.
used a lot on Superstock Mopar as much easier to tune than
the TQs!
Different take from me:
More Air Dore Tension 3 to 5 turns.
Play with linkage on Accel. Pump for more or less early squirt and test for effect.
Recurve ignition for a quick curve.
The biggest problem is that the different size carbs require different
jet sizes.
If you are anywhere near sea level the factory jetting is usually pretty close.
Small changes in jetting may help MPG and drivability somewhat but
a couple jet size changes are not very significant for torque or HP...
