Thank you! Lots of great info online, in books, and videos... looking forward to getting into it and hopefully it's all good, I am pretty sure it will be as the oil was clean.
Thanks
Yeah I was referring to the casting numbers. It seems to be that they were set up different between the HP and the normal 383. Same amount of front clutch disks, but the Hp used 6 return springs instead of 8 found on the normal 383.also the stall speeds were different.
I have changed my...
Hello
I am going to rebuild my transmission out of my 67 coronet 383 2bl. I am not going to start a thread because there is lots of info on this subject...
I have identified the transmission, and the same as the engine I am pretty sure they are both original.
In 1967 the 2bbl and 4bbl 383, 727...
Probably yup bur I think back in the day that's what I think the higher compression 4bbl was rated at, gonna look more into it after work but I think that is the stock compression height for those pistons in 67.
I may be wrong but I believe these could be the stock .030 TRW replacement pistons for the 66 -67 383 4 bbl engine 10:1 compression. Whether I will end up using them will depend on certian factors , I kinda bought the full nos set on a whim (just because I am like that) bur I do have another...
Hi does anyone have any info on these pistons? I just picked up a set for my 383 with pins but just wondering about rings and the actual specs, if anyone could help me out tha would be awesome.
Thank you!
This is from a old thread but I too feel that stock intake ain't half bad, it is something that can be changed in the future if need be but I would like to try and make it work and I think the edelbrock avs 2 will compliment it. I did pick up a bit more cam though, summit 6401...
Well after a lot of thought and pondering. Summit had 2 sets of speed pro 2315's coming in one was spoken for but I ended up purchasing the second set. I think they will work the best for all intent and purposes on my build... We will see if they show up but they are scheduled to arrive in Ohio...
I kinda want cast or forged pistons, I could look at complimenting with a better intake . Using just the summit calculator I come up with 10.1:1 with a .039 Gasket, if that is the compressed spec. It's the exact same if we mill those domes off and use a .022 Gasket. At this point I am not even...
Due to the unavailability of the 2315' s I think I am going to go with the icon 687, heads cc'd to 78cc. Pretty pumped, a bit more compression but I don't mind that one bit...
Thanks! Ya I just used a online calculator with a .040 gasket thickness and I believe I came up with 9.66:1. Don't worry those silvolites are not going in there and maybe doing the assembly myself is not a bad idea, that was my plan in the first place and I am capable its just not something I do...
Thanks for all the replies and the differences of opinion.
I will forsure have the heads CC'd no questions asked as well as the block height checked, the motor has sat for a long time its the original motor for my 1967 coronet and was a 2bbl but I am changing to a 4bbl. My understanding is the...
I like the intake I have the casting numbers are #2806301, I believe it is one of the better stock intakes and its been hot tanked and is really for paint. Where would I find custom dished pistons? They sound expensive lol! I really don't understand what is wrong with the TRW speed pro 2315...
